10 Earth Day events in Dallas-Fort Worth to learn about the environment, shop for upcycled products, and give back.
Celebrating nature is easy in the spring, with flowers in bloom and the warmer weather making everything feel healthy, vibrant, and alive. Not to mention, Earth Day is coming up on Apr. 22, and there are ways to help care for our planet all month long!
From volunteer projects to educational activities for kids and so much more, there are plenty of ways to celebrate our favorite spring holiday Earth Day in DFW this year.
1. City of Garland Earth Day
Date: Apr. 11, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Location: Holford Recreation Center, 2314 Homestead Place
Local experts will be on hand at the City of Garland’s Earth Day event to give you hands-on tips for gardening, saving energy, and more. A Master Gardener will teach you how to prepare soil for planting, how to manage weeds and make your lawn healthier, and tips on planting native perennials for year-round flowers.
There will also be a talk on saving energy that’s useful for the planet (and your wallet!).
2. Flock Party
Date: Apr. 11, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Location: Trinity River Audubon Center, 6500 S Great Trinity Forest Way, Dallas
Like a block party, the Trinity River Audubon Center’s Flock Party is a huge community event, designed to showcase all that the local Audubon Center does. During this event, you can go on a guided hike or horseback ride, enjoy food and activities, and celebrate the beautiful outdoors.
If you want to give back, sign up to volunteer at the center, where you could work to restore habitats of local plants, welcome guests at the front desks, and host educational field trips or bird walks.
3. Earth Day Festival
Date: Apr. 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Location: River Legacy Nature Center, 703 NW Green Oaks Boulevard, Arlington
The River Legacy Foundation’s Earth Day Festival is a chance for families to learn about taking care of the earth through interactive demonstrations and booths, focused on wildlife preservation, water conservation, and other important topics.
You can go on a guided nature walk, sit down for story time from Arlington Public Library, make eco-friendly crafts, and hear from organizations like US Fish and Wildlife and the Native Plant Society of Texas among others.
4. Earthfest & Kid Fish
Date: Apr. 18, 9-11 a.m.
Location: Andrew Brown Park East, 260 East Parkway Boulevard, Coppell
Part of protecting our planet’s resources involves teaching kids how to be caretakers as well, which is what Earthest & Kid Fish aims to do. At Earthfest, students from Coppell ISD and other organizations teach about green initiatives, sustainability, conservation, and environmental education. At Kid Fish, you can bring the littles to fish with the Coppell Police Department and chat with the community.
By the time you leave, you will know more about the earth and will have made fun family memories with a bubble truck, live DJ, and food trucks.
5. Carrollton’s Earth Day Celebration
Date: Apr. 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Location: Josey Ranch Lake Library, 1700 Keller Springs Road, Carrollton
The best place to start your Earth Day knowledge is at the library! That’s why this Carrollton Earth Day event takes place at the Josey Ranch Lake Library, where local organizations will have booths set up to talk about water conservation, recycling, animals, and gardening among other topics.
Learn about trees at the Citizen Forester Program’s booth and gardening from the Denton County Master Gardener Association. There will also be several City of Carrollton Department booths here, representing Animal Services, the Elm Fork Nature Center, Color Carrollton, Environmental Services, and other green programs and initiatives in the city.
Perhaps the most exciting part is the Earth Day Recycle Art Contest, where you can vote for Recycled Robots art projects made by Carrollton students in grades K-12.
6. Dallas Farmers Market Earth Day Weekend
Date: Apr. 18-19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Location: 920 South Harwood, Dallas
This isn’t your typical weekend at the Dallas Farmers Market—instead, vendors who sell upcycled goods and vintage treasures will be highlighted, so you can shop without harming the planet.
The weekend’s activities include kids’ activities, crafts, live music, and an upcycle market to discover new treasures. Of course, you can also shop for seasonal produce, including beets, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, oranges, potatoes, strawberries, and others in April.
7. Oak Cliff Earth Day
Date: Apr. 19, Noon-5 p.m.
Location: Lake Cliff Park, 300 East Colorado Boulevard, Dallas
Every year, the citizens of Oak Cliff gather to honor the earth with environmentally conscious vendors, food trucks, and entertainment the whole family will enjoy for Oak Cliff Earth Day. The event is working toward becoming zero waste, with more recyclables collection points and a focus on conserving all resources of products, packaging and materials.
Bring your kids to enjoy fresh air, learn more about the Earth, and have a fun Sunday outside.
8. EarthX2026
Date: Apr. 20-22
Location: Hilton Anatole 2201 N Stemmons Freeway, Dallas
Actors, marine biologists, military veterans, activists, political leaders, and other environmentalists are coming together on Earth Day weekend for the prestigious EarthX2026 event. This three-day conference will include speeches on conservation, climate change, agriculture, sustainability, and so much more.
The event is hosted by EarthX, an international nonprofit focused on educating and inspiring others for a more sustainable future. The Texas-based organization is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Prices for this event start at $599.
9. Earth Day Park Clean-Up
Date: Apr. 22, 6 p.m.
Location: White Rock Lake Dog Park, 8000 East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas
Give back this Earth Day by volunteering to clean up a beloved community space: the White Rock Lake Dog Park! Hosted by Revive White Rock, this event brings together volunteers at the park to collect trash and clean up the place, making it a better place for the dogs and their owners who love to play here.
Afterward, wash your hands and join the eco-friendly potluck, where you can bring a dish to share with other volunteers.
10. Grapevine’s Earth Day Celebration
Date: Apr. 25, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Location: Botanical Gardens of Heritage Park, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine
Grapevine’s Earth Day Celebration is a family-friendly event that includes tons of fun ways to learn about and honor the earth. These include a demonstration from the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, featuring real owls, hawks, and falcons.
Kids will love the environmentally friendly arts and crafts, Earth Day-themed bounce houses, and eco-inspired face painting designs, and grown-ups will enjoy visiting with community partners and sustainable vendors.
For more Earth Day fun in Grapevine, volunteer for the Texas Trash Off from 8 to 10 a.m., where you will be assigned to clean up a local park or public area with a team to keep the community beautiful.
