10 of the best cut-your-own Christmas tree farms in Wisconsin

Make your holidays merry and bright with an experience to remember. Visit one of the best cut-your-own-tree farms in Wisconsin this season.

Dashing through the snow may not always feel magical in Wisconsin (especially when it’s a random 9-inch overnight drop), but come Christmastime, dashing over to a cut-your-own tree farm is a beloved Wisconsin tradition

At most of Wisconsin’s tree farms, you’ll find fir and pine trees in all sorts of heights and widths. Finding your perfect tree is only half the fun—equally important is the incredible experience of cutting your own tree before taking it home. Before you head out to cut your own tree, there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Plan your visit – Visiting a tree farm is a fun-filled experience, but it can be overwhelming for first-time visitors. Make your visit easy and seamless by planning ahead and deciding when you want to arrive, how long you anticipate visiting, what kind of tree you’re looking for, and, of course, how you’re getting it home.
  • Bundle up – Cutting your own Christmas tree in Wisconsin means bundling up in layers upon layers. That way, even if we have unseasonably warm weather, you can adjust as needed.
  • Brush up on freshly cut tree care – There’s nothing worse than getting your Christmas tree home, only for it to lose its needles before Christmas Eve. Make sure to keep an eye on the water level in the base and keep it away from things that’ll dry out the air around it (like fireplaces or heaters).

For each farm, we included the location, when the season begins and ends, and the tree’s price (or price range) if it was listed. You can also visit the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association to check out an overview of 55 different cut-your-own tree farms in Wisconsin. Take a look and choose where to find your perfect Christmas tree this holiday season.
