In Virginia, the pickleball craze is no different. The Commonwealth offers an array of top-notch locations for enthusiasts to play. From state-of-the-art indoor facilities to serene outdoor parks, here are 10 standout places to experience the joy of pickleball in Virginia.
Bangers & Dinks Indoor Pickleball

Bangers & Dinks Indoor Pickleball has the distinction of being the first indoor pickleball center in Richmond. Because the courts are indoors, pickleball enthusiasts have a place to play rain or shine. It’s an open play facility, so you can drop in anytime without having to worry about getting a membership. The eight-court center has a special Pro-Cushion flooring that is designed to minimize the impact on your joints. Additionally, the lighting is optimized for indoor pickleball play. While there, enjoy a snack with a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.
Performance Pickleball
8641 Quioccasin Rd. Henrico, VA 23229
With 12 courts, Performance Pickleball bills itself as the largest indoor pickleball facility in Virginia. Open to players of all skill levels, it prioritizes the social element that the sport is built on. The various offerings, including leagues, clinics, and tournaments, make it so that players can customize their experience. If outdoor play is your thing, know that the center also has six outdoor courts. Those looking to up their game should consider signing up for a clinic with one of the center’s instructors.
Scott Pickleball Center at Rockwood Park

The Scott Pickleball Center at Rockwood Park has been offering a place for pickleball enthusiasts to play for the last decade. Originally, three tennis courts, the center is now home to eight pickleball courts that are in constant use. Pouncey Tract Park
4747 Pouncey Tract Rd. Glen Allen, VA 23059
Pouncey Tract Park already has pickleball courts but will soon be a pickleball mecca when a $2.2 million construction project is completed this fall. As part of the project, 12 new illuminated pickleball courts will be added. After playing a couple of rounds of pickleball, head over to the picnic facility for an afternoon snack.
Ridgeview Park
700 S Magnolia Ave. Waynesboro, VA 22980
Ridgeview Park is an idyllic place to go for a game of pickleball. An evergreen-lined lane welcomes visitors to the 85-acre park where benches line the bank of the South River, which meanders through the park. The four pickleball courts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. After an intense match, center yourself in the Serenity Garden where low-growing shrubs and brightly colored flowers abound.
Lubber Run Community Center
300 N Park Dr. Arlington, VA 22203
The 31-acre Lubber Run Community Center has several lighted multi-purpose courts that can be used for volleyball, tennis, and, of course, pickleball. The courts are open from sunrise through 10 p.m. After several matches, grill a burger or hotdog on one of the nearby charcoal grills, then enjoy it at the picnic shelter.
Temple Park

Prince George Parks & Recreation takes pickleball seriously. It has a range of pickleball offerings, with its outdoor courts found at Temple Park. The courts are open daily from dawn to dusk. It even offers an Introduction to Pickleball course. Led by Larry Heidorn, the course is designed to provide players with a basic understanding of the fundamentals of the game. However, if indoor play is more your style, the indoor courts can be found at the Central Wellness Center.
City of Salem Pickleball Courts
800 E Main St. Salem, VA 24153
The City of Salem Pickleball Courts were opened in 2018 when the previous tennis courts were converted to meet the growing demand for pickleball play. The six courts are open from sunrise to 11 p.m. during the summer months, with availability during the winter dependent on the weather.
Pickleball Virginia Beach

With 25 courts, Pickleball Virginia Beach is the place to go for pickleball in the greater Virginia Beach area. It offers recreational play, leagues, lessons, and tournaments. If you’re just starting out and need some gear, stop by the pro shop for paddles, balls, and clothing. The center even has restrooms with lockers and showers. Lessons for beginners, as well as more advanced players, are offered regularly by the five on-staff instructors.
Back Creek Park
3000 Goodwin Neck Rd. Yorktown, VA 23692
Back Creek Park is the site of York County’s only pickleball courts. With six permanent and four dual courts available for pickleball, the park is perfect for practicing or simply having recreational fun with friends and family. Pickleball equipment, including balls and paddles, can be rented at the park. If you’re new to the game, informational signs are posted at the court to help get you started. Lessons for youth and adults of all skill levels are also offered throughout the year.
