Scholarship opportunities abound in the Silver State for Hispanic and Latino students who are seeking a higher education.

Some awards are merit-based, while others are based on financial need. In certain cases, even undocumented and DACA students are welcome to apply.

The deadlines for the 2025-2026 school year have passed, but it’s not too soon to start preparing for 2026-2027, whether by upping your community service, writing a draft of a personal essay, or working extra hard on your grades. Application deadlines are typically in early March.

Ready to take your education to the next level? Here are 10 scholarships for Hispanic and Latino students in Nevada. 

1. Silver State Opportunity Grant

The Silver State Opportunity Grant is the first and only state-supported financial aid program in Nevada. Created in 2015, it’s a need-based grant for eligible low-income students, including DACA students. 

Grants of $4,400-$5,500 are intended to encourage more students in need in Nevada to earn a college degree.

2. McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship

You probably know about the Golden Arches. But did you know McDonalds feeds the community in more way than one?

With more than $33 million in scholarships awarded since 1985, the McDonald’s HACER® National Scholarship helps deserving Hispanic and Latino students pursue higher education. 

Every year, up to 30 students nationwide receive $5,000-$100,000 based on criteria like academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement, and financial need. 

3. Chicana/Latina Foundation

The Chicana/Latina Foundation helps create future Chicina and Latina leaders and changemakers by awarding 40-45 $1,500–$2,000 scholarships to Latina students annually. 

The merit-based scholarships look at factors related to the Latinx community, such as the recipients’ commitment to equality and justice, demonstrated leadership qualities and experience, ability to overcome personal challenges, and academic achievement.

4. Prospanica Scholarship

The Association of Hispanic MBAs & Business Professionals, also c Prospanica, offers a select number of scholarships of up to $5,000 to Hispanic undergraduate and graduate business students. 

The awards are intended for entrepreneurial thinkers and leaders who want to break barriers and drive meaningful change to improve society, make a lasting impact, and uplift the Hispanic community.

5. La Unidad Latina Foundation

Hispanic students enrolled at community colleges, four-year institutions, and graduate programs across the United States may be eligible for a La Unidad Latina Foundation scholarship. 

The nonprofit organization, dedicated to improving educational outcomes for Latino students, awards a select number of $500 to $2,000 grants annually to lessen students’ financial burden.

6. LULAC National Scholarship Fund

A grassroots/corporate partnership to empower the Latino community, the LULAC National Scholarship Fund was established in 1975 to help youth in underserved communities go to college. 

Scholarships from $500-$2,000 are based on academic performance, motivation, sincerity, and integrity. Students with community involvement and leadership activities go through a rigorous process, including a personal interview and essay. 

7. MALDEF Law School Scholarship Program

Latino legal civil rights organization MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) awards law school scholarships to students committed to advancing Latino civil rights in the US through the legal profession. 

Scholarships of $5,000 each go to five to 15 full-time law students at accredited law schools nationwide annually based on academic and extracurricular achievements, background, and financial need.

8. Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) Scholarships

The Organization Latino Actuaries (OLA) offers $5,000 and $7,500 scholarships for aspiring actuaries to increase the number of Latinos in the actuarial profession. These professionals use advanced mathematical and statistical skills to assess and manage financial risk and uncertainty for organizations. 

Scholarship recipients are chosen for their academic performance, commitment to the profession, exam progress, work experience, and leadership experience. 

9. 2025 HSF Scholar Program Application

Open to students of all races who identify as Hispanic Heritage, HSF Scholarships include $500-$5,000 and scholar support, including career services, mentorship, leadership development, knowledge building, and wellness training. 

Open to US citizens, permanent legal residents, or DACA recipients, scholars are selected based on merit.

10. HACU Scholarship Program

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities offers scholarships to its member colleges, such as the College of Southern Nevada, regardless of immigration status. 

The $2,000-$5,000 awards can help pay for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses.
