Nebraska’s food scene is always expanding, and we’re always on the hunt for that next best bite. There are too many restaurants to count, but finding the gems you’ll want to return to again and again is worth it. In addition to savoring those delicious meals and drinks, your patronage uplifts small businesses that could use some extra support. That’s why we previously highlighted 14 Black-owned restaurants across Nebraska that we think everyone should try at least once.
Now we’re honing in directly on West Omaha. This area has been rapidly expanding in recent years—so much so that, according to an early-August 2026 Grow Omaha press release, “more than 1 million sq. ft. of retail space is under construction” in West Omaha. That’s a lot of real estate!
You don’t have to wait for new businesses to spring up to take a tour of the town with your taste buds, though. West Omaha has been home to delicious restaurants for many years—decades in some cases—and we’ve rounded up 10 of them that we genuinely think every local needs to visit at least once. These are highly rated restaurants from a variety of cuisines that locals and travelers alike love.
1. Brother Sebastian’s

Brother Sebastian’s has a unique monastery vibe that every Omaha local needs to see for themselves. It’s also won many awards that make it a must-visit restaurant, like TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence Award in five different years. This highly rated restaurant features a salad bar and a full menu of delicious dishes, ranging from steaks and meatloaf to stuffed shrimp and smothered chicken sandwiches. If you’re looking for an old-school dessert done right—one that not many restaurants offer anymore—you’ll want to order the Baked Alaska Flambé. It might just make you swoon!
2. Isla del Mar Restaurante

Despite only opening its doors in 2017, Isla del Mar Restaurante is a local favorite with three locations in the Omaha area. This Mexican restaurant’s specialty is seafood, and you’ll taste how flavorful its fish, shrimp, and more are with each bite. This is exemplified in dishes like the Shrimp Empanadas, Cazón Zarandeado (grilled shark), and Enchiladas de Jaiba (blue crab enchiladas), among others. Plus, you can catch live, authentic Mexican music played right in the restaurant if you eat at the right time, giving you an experience you certainly wouldn’t want to miss out on.
3. Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

Every Omaha local needs to try Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse for one simple reason: This restaurant offers a unique experience. Similar to other Brazilian steakhouses, such as Fogo de Chão, Terra Gaucha operates under a model where servers rotate around the dining room with freshly cooked meats and cut diners off portions as they’re ready. It’s an all-you-can-eat experience, and there’s a bar with fruits, vegetables, bread, and more where diners can get all the fixin’s they need. Terra Gaucha has seven locations in the U.S., and the West Omaha location is the only one in Nebraska, making it a must-try restaurant.
4. Pivot Prime

Steak meets classic French cookery at Pivot Prime, a fine-dining restaurant owned by Gregg and Ashley Young and helmed by Chef Joel Hassanali. Pivot Prime has a semi-formal dress code to help ensure you’re “feeling good” while you dine, per its website, and that seems to be the case writ large based on the restaurant’s glowing reviews online. Here, you can find many different cuts of steak, and you can also enjoy shared seafood dishes like shrimp cocktails and oysters on ice, chef-curated specials like short rib ragout, and tantalizing appetizers like wagyu meatballs. Basically, every bite is even more tender than the last.
5. Omaha Tap House

Omaha Tap House is the singular best restaurant in West Omaha for locals to try if they’re burger lovers. This restaurant has over 10 specialty burgers on its menu. These flavors include a burger topped with brown sugar-cinnamon bacon, one themed after a jalapeno popper, and another made from bison. As you’d expect with this restaurant’s name, it also serves plenty of drinks. These drinks include ones that pair well with the burgers, like the jalapeno lime bloody mary and the jalapeno popper burger. With so many burger-and-drink combinations, this restaurant will have you coming back time and time again.
6. Goose120

Goose120 is another of the five eateries owned by Restaurants, Inc., and this one is the cutesy option—you know, the whimsical one that makes your inner child happy. At Goose120, everything is playful, including the menu. For instance, you can order Goosebumps, aka fried balls of mozzarella with some tasty sauces, or the Honkin’ Club Grill, a slightly spicy take on the classic club sandwich thanks to the inclusion of chipotle aioli. Goose120’s menu is a lovely mix of Italian and New American cuisines, and worth a try if you live nearby.
7. Dante

Since its opening in 2009, Dante has prided itself on bringing fresh and authentic flavors, ingredients, and techniques all the way from Italy to West Omaha. Helmed by Omaha native Chef Nick Strawhecker, Dante puts its all into making each plate transport you across the globe, which is why every local needs to taste its dishes at least once.
You’re going to be tempted to order one of everything on the menu—and, by all means, don’t let us stop you—but if you’re looking for some standout dishes, check out the Sweet Corn Soup, Dante Bolognese, Potato Gnocchi, or Alborosie pizza. These plates really show the love put into them, but then again, so do all of the others.
8. Railcar Modern American Kitchen

Railcar Modern American Kitchen is the epitome of New American restaurants: Everything is scratch-made, and everything leaves you feeling warm inside (including the house-made cocktails). Railcar specializes in really good comfort food. It’s elevated, delicious, and simply done right. For brunch, that means Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Chilaquiles, and Croque Madames are up for order. Later in the day, you might indulge in Thai Chicken Flatbreads, Prime Rib French Dips, and French Onion Short Rib Mac, among other sensational selections.
9. Vincenzo’s Ristorante

Thanks to its friendly staff, inviting ambiance, and mouth-watering dishes, Vincenzo’s Ristorante has been around for more than 30 years. It has two locations—one in Omaha and one in Lincoln—and has become a certified institution in the area. Vincenzo’s menu features classic and innovative Italian dishes, from pizzas and pastas to sandwiches and specialty dishes, like veal parmigiana. You really can’t go wrong here no matter what you order.
10. Mouth of the South

Steakhouses and Italian restaurants are all delectable, but we knew we needed to end on a truly one-of-a-kind establishment. Enter Mouth of the South, a restaurant focused on “bringing the Bold Flavors of the Bayou to Omaha,” according to its website. Mouth of the South makes real down-home Cajun food and cocktails—and all from scratch. Examples include alligator arancini (fried rice balls), traditional etouffee, blackened snapper, and even fluffy, powdered sugar-dusted beignets fresh out of the fryer. This is the type of place that makes you want to aggressively lick your fingers.
