From restaurants and vegan bakeries to accessory brands, discover San Antonio’s best women-owned businesses.
Whether you’re looking for a hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving up tasty, affordable dishes, a one-of-a-kind piece of handmade jewelry, or organic beauty products, there is a business in San Antonio that offers exactly what you need.
The Alamo City is home to a wide variety of businesses, from big corporations to small mom-and-pop shops, and many of our favorites are women-owned. Some started as side hustles, some celebrate the owner’s cultural heritage, and others prioritize sustainability.
Before your next shopping spree or meal out, check out our roundup of 10 women-owned businesses to support in San Antonio and consider ordering from one.
1. Best Quality Daughter
Chef Jennifer Dobbertin opened Best Quality Daughter to address the lack of female Asian-American chefs in South Texas. She tested the concept through a series of pop-up dinners with another chef, Anne Ng, and artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk before opening a brick-and-mortar location.
The restaurant—open for lunch and dinner, plus brunch on Sunday—serves a menu of new Asian-American small plates, family-style dishes, and dessert, with many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Dishes range from appetizers like Korean corn cheese spring rolls to entrees such as drunken noodle red curry mole and mushroom chow fun.
The interior of the restaurant is intentionally feminine, with teal and pink walls, an oversized chandelier, and floral wallpaper.
Address: 602 Ave. A.

2. Breakfast Friend
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind, sustainably made accessory, Breakfast Friend has you covered. Breakfast Friend, founded by artist Bárbara Miñarro, is an accessories line of hand-painted purses, colorful beaded earrings, charm bracelets, and other unique items.
The purses are made in small batches from locally sourced leather and feature designs of (mostly) food items, from croissants and bagels to tomatoes and strawberries. (A crossbody bag with a pastry painted on it was spotted as far away as Paris during the city’s fashion week.) Other items, like the earrings and charm bracelets, also stick to the food theme.
Some accessories, such as the brand’s scrunchies, are made from leftover fabric that would otherwise be discarded.
Address: Breakfast Friend is run from the owner’s home studio in San Antonio.
3. Cake Thieves
Cake Thieves is a women-owned bakery serving up treats that are 100% vegan. After years of selling its goods in other local eateries, Cake Thieves opened its own brick-and-mortar location in 2022.
At the bakery, you’ll find almost 20 donut varieties—ranging from cinnamon sugar and Boston cream to horchata and strawberry pistachio—muffins, pies, conchas, danishes, croissants, cheesecakes, scones, and pop pastries. The bakery also accepts custom cake and cupcake orders.
Address: 1602 E. Houston St., Ste. 104
4. Elysia Collective
To support multiple women-owned businesses under one roof, head to Elysia Collective. The shopping destination is home to about 20 local female-founded businesses selling everything from clothing and accessories to home decor and beauty products.
Some of the more unique vendors include Art & Soul, which sells stickers made specifically for teachers, Doughrific Kids, which offers handmade playdough sensory kits, and Wila + Co, which makes coconut soy candle products, vegan aroma enhancers infused with essential oils, and candle accessories.
Address: 11858 Wurzbach Rd.

5. Flower In Flour
Get your caffeine fix—and support a female-founded business at the same time when you visit Flower In Flour. The coffee shop and bakery serves specialty coffee, baked goods, and ice cream infused with THC and CBD. (All menu items can also be made without any THC or CBD.)
Beverage options range from a standard hot or iced coffee to a coconut cream cold brew and a specialty drink called Texas Star, which combines espresso, half-and-half, caramel, vanilla, cold foam, and a caramel drizzle. The baked goods menu includes mini donuts, macarons, croissants, and cupcakes.
Address: 6915 Bandera Rd., Ste. 104
6. Honey & Pickle
While everyone was busy nurturing their sourdough starters during the pandemic, Mallory Jochen planted a vegetable garden and started pickling cucumbers. Positive feedback from friends sparked a business idea, and in late 2020, Honey & Pickle was born.
Honey & Pickle sells charcuterie boards featuring assorted meats (including vegan options), cheeses, crackers, fruits, and local treats that are perfect for all sorts of occasions, from weddings and baby showers to birthdays and date nights.
Address: Honey & Pickle delivers in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Contact the company for pickup options.
7. Lunchroom Anxiety
Lunchroom Anxiety may bring back memories of walking into the cafeteria and not knowing where or who to sit with (that feeling is what inspired the name, after all), but the brand is much cheerier than that. Founded by Bronte Treat when she was a college student, Lunchroom Anxiety is known for its chainstitch embroidery and sells patches, accessories, shirts, and more.
Since launching Lunchroom Anxiety, Treat has also opened a clothing store called Richter Goods with her partner.
Address: 2102 McCullough Ave.
8. Maíz Cocina Mexicana
Maricela Rangel opened Maíz Cocina Mexicana so San Antonio diners could experience what Mexican moms cook for their children and family.
The restaurant opened in 2024, and its menu features family recipes that have been passed down for generations. There are multiple enchilada and taco dishes, plus specialty dishes like beef cooked in a birria sauce, breaded fish covered with green salsa and melted cheese, and arrachera served with charro beans and cactus salad.
Address: 923 N Loop 1604, Ste. 101
9. Sichuan House
Sichuan House is a family operation, founded by Kristina Zhao and her father in 2015 (though Kristina is the restaurant’s prominent figure now) with the goal of bringing the taste of authentic Sichuan to Texas.
The food is made with traditional techniques and elevated ingredients, and the menu features small plates and family-style dishes designed to be shared. Dishes range from starters like soup dumplings to American Chinese staples like fried rice to Sichuan classics such as tea-smoked duck.
Address: 3505 Wurzbach Rd., #102
10. The Jerk Shack
After serving in the army for a decade, Nicola Blaque explored her passion for cooking as a private chef and student at the Culinary Institute of America. In 2018, she opened The Jerk Shack, a two-time Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurant inspired by the flavors of Jamaica and the Caribbean.
The Jerk Shack was named one of the Top 16 New Restaurants in America by Eater in 2019 and was also included on GQ’s list of 2020’s Best New Restaurants in America.
Menu items range from fried and jerk chicken to curry shrimp and chopped tacos, plus sides like macaroni and cheese, masala fries, and collard greens.
