12 Nevada food pantries to donate your time, money, and food to this holiday season

Nevadans aren’t immune to going hungry this holiday season. These 12 food pantries (and others) are seeking volunteers, food, and money to feed those in need.

One in five children in Nevada doesn’t know where their next meal will come from.

That’s according to Feeding America, a nationwide network of over 200 food banks and 60,000 meal programs. The agency reports that in the Silver State, there are 481,460 people facing hunger, 136,580 of whom are children.

Factor in the looming government shutdown, rising costs of groceries, and a murky future for SNAP benefits, and it’s safe to say that many Nevadans may struggle to keep their families fed as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other winter holidays approach.

Whether you’re dealing with food insecurity yourself or you’ve never known the pain of going hungry, your help is needed this holiday season at one of Nevada’s many food banks and pantries. Some are seeking volunteers to help stock shelves, clean, distribute, or serve meals, while others are in need of food and financial donations.

The following are 12 food banks and pantries throughout the state in need of food, money, and volunteers.

For a complete list of food banks in Northern Nevada, visit the Food Bank of Nevada Food Finder. For Southern Nevada, visit the Nevada Department of Veteran Services.
