Over a dozen North Texas hospitals made US News & World Report’s list of 2026-2027 best. Here’s everything you need to know.

Okay, so Texas might not be the backdrop for popular medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt, but its real life hospitals are still pretty notable. Thirteen of them in North Texas were recently named some of the Best Regional Hospitals 2026-2027 by US News & World Report, including Fort Worth’s Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center.

In a press release announcing the 2026-2027 rankings, the CEO of Baylor Scott & White, Pete McCanna, wrote, “Rankings are not the objective of our work. They are an outcome of our teams’ dedication to delivering clinical excellence and exemplary experiences. Trusted, high-quality care is the foundation of our transformation as we make healthcare simpler and more empowering for our customers.”

Close to 4,500 hospitals across the country were evaluated by US News & World Report to determine which offer the highest quality of care across 23 conditions and procedures and 14 adult specialties. These include things like:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart arrhythmia
  • Heart failure
  • Heart bypass surgery
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Kidney Failure
  • Stroke
  • Myeloma, Lymphoma, Leukemia
  • Pneumonia
  • Throat, nose, and ear surgery
  • Hip fracture

Additional factors were taken into consideration, like the hospital’s cardiology, rehabilitation, cancer, and orthopedic divisions, as well as its heart and vascular surgery.

The Methodist Hospital in Houston ultimately took the No. 1 spot for Texas, but UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas came in at No. 2 and Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center rounded out the Top 3. Another impressive feat? Dallas’s UT Southwestern Medical Center has placed second in the state for 10 years in a row.

The President of UT Southwestern, Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., acknowledged the honor in a statement, writing, “This decade of distinction is a testament to the teamwork, expertise, and commitment of our physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other care team members and support staff who work daily to provide the very best care possible to our patients.”

He added, “It reflects a standard of excellence that extends across all aspects of our institution, from advancing discovery to educating and training future generations of physicians, other healthcare professionals, and scientists.”

Here are the other places that made the cut (pun intended)

Several other North Texas hospitals were ranked highly by US News & World Report based on the above factors, as well as on specialties like Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, and Orthopedics. In addition to the three we’ve already listed, these 10 are some of the best in Texas:

  • Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas – No. 16 (tied with Austin’s Ascension Seton Medical Center:
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest and Medical City Dallas – No. 19 (tied)
