7 celebrities who own homes in Pennsylvania
These celebrities live in (or used to live in) elaborate Pennsylvania homes.
Rising housing prices continue to make housing unaffordable for many, not just in crowded California but also across Pennsylvania. Let’s distract ourselves from reality with the domestic lifestyles of Pennsylvania’s rich and famous, because scrolling through expensive Zillow listings you’ll never buy is a perfectly legitimate hobby.
1. Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa recently sold his woodland mansion just south of Pittsburgh in the suburb of Canonsburg. Khalifa—who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, the inspiration behind his hit “Black and Yellow”—bought the 3-acre property in 2012. Every part of the home was fashioned to fit the rapper’s aesthetic—for example, the large stone fire pit and grill on the outdoor patio features an etching of a cannabis leaf. Still, compared to most celebrity homes, the house is refreshingly normal—or as normal as you can get for $1 million. The house was listed for $1.3 million in October 2024 and just sold at the end of March for less than a million.
2. Smokey Robinson
Motown legend Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances, have a house in Los Angeles, but they’ve also kept their ties to Pittsburgh, where Frances hails from. The couple used to live in a North Hills mansion, but they sold it a few years ago and bought a new home in Cranberry, which they haven’t publicized. The Robinsons also operate their business, Smokey Robinson Wines, in Pittsburgh; their wines are available online and also at a wine shop in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.
3. Patti LaBelle
While other Pennsylvania celebrities leave the state for Los Angeles or New York, Philly native Patti LaBelle is loyal to her city. She used to live in the suburb of Wynnewood, but recently moved to nearby Gladwyne. “I love Gladwyne,” the singer told Philadelphia Magazine in 2023. “It’s so dark and quiet at night,” she said, adding that she sometimes feels “like I am living in a jungle.” She bought the house, tucked away in a landscaped private lot with a movie theater, pool, and waterfall, for $2.3 million in 2018. Gladwyne is the richest zip code in Pennsylvania.
4. Bam Margera
Bam Margera’s house in West Chester didn’t feel “like home” at first, the MTV reality star said, because it was less of a house, and more of a set piece for the cast of the prank show “Jackass,” and then the show’s spin-off Viva La Bam. Margera bought “Castle Bam” in 2004 for $1.2 million and immediately set about his own form of remodeling, including painting much of the house’s interior purple. The nearly 14-acre property has a barn that Margera converted into a skate park, a driveway also modified into a skating ramp, and a kitchen that received the “Jackson Pollock” treatment with splatters of paint.
5. Bradley Cooper
In recent years, celebrities have flocked to the little town of New Hope along the Delaware River, helping to facilitate more tourism to the community while also introducing worries about inflated home prices. Bradley Cooper is one such celebrity, as the actor bought a 33-acre, $6.5 million farm in 2023. The historic estate, known as Finale Farm, has undergone several renovations since it was first built in 1704. Reportedly, he bought the home to be closer to girlfriend Gigi Hadid, who also has a house in the area. (When things get serious for celebrities, they don’t move in together and save on expenses. Instead, they buy property next door.)
6. Zayn Malik
Former One Direction member Zayn Malik was also drawn to New Hope because of Gigi Hadid, buying a farm there in 2018. Though the couple broke up in 2021, he still lives in the county, and he and Hadid are raising their daughter there. Malik has also credited the area with positively influencing his music. “It’s a very rural environment, out of the way,” he told British Vogue last year. “It’s just chill, it’s quiet, there’s no human beings there,” he said, adding that the secluded place allows “space to really reflect on your thoughts and think about things without all the noise of the world.” The atmosphere of his home “definitely shaped the inspiration behind the sound pocket that I was creating for this record.”
7. The Hadid Family
Model sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, and mom Yolanda Hadid, make their home in a nearly $4 million Bucks County farmhouse that Yolanda bought in 2017 after leaving California. The 32-acre estate became famous on Instagram in 2020 as the Hadids broadcasted how they were spending their pandemic isolation—feeding animals, riding horses, and harvesting fresh vegetables. The property has wide open spaces for their horses, guest homes for the sisters, and even a lavender farm. Known as Carousel Farm, the (main) house was first built in 1700.
