Gilles Custard

Welcome to Wisconsin’s oldest custard stand that’s been in business for over 85 years! Since 1938, Gilles Custard has been serving quality custard, from classics to creative, fun flavors. Enjoy a bite to eat with your custard — try a hamburger, fries, or their signature sloppy joe. Each month, they feature different specials; this August, you can try an Orange Dream float, a BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, or Jameson custard. 

Pop’s Custard

Pop’s Custard has been serving up delicious treats for some time. They have 14 different delicious sundaes plus pints and quarts of your favorite flavors to take home with you. Try pairing your favorite Pop’s old-fashioned custard soda with one of their burgers, hot dogs, or brats. 

Leon’s Custard

3131 S 27th Street, Milwaukee 

Leon’s has been home to the freshest and the finest frozen custard since 1942. Open year-round, you can always find malts and shakes, sodas and floats, cones, sundaes, and other tasty treats. Their staple sundaes include the classic banana split, a Tin Roof, or Leon’s Super Sundae. 

Not Licked Yet Frozen Custard

A trip to Door County isn’t complete without stopping by this fun, fantastical custard stand, Not Licked Yet Frozen Custard. Family owned and operated since 1982, the location has delicious treats and is a unique location perfect for families. Here, you’ll find a playground for the littles and might also catch a glimpse of wildlife around the area. 

Kopp’s Custard

Greenfield, Brookfield, & Glendale

Enjoy self-described classic but quirky Kopp’s custard at one of their three Greater Milwaukee area locations. Opened in 1950, this custard stand is a Milwaukee staple and the first stand to start the ‘flavor of the day’ trend when they first opened. Today, you can still enjoy their crave-inducing jumbo Kopp’s burgers, two different flavors of the day, and monthly specials on shakes and sundaes!

Dairyland Old Fashion Frozen Custard & Hamburgers

275 W Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee

Dairyland Old Fashion Frozen Custard & Hamburgers might have “old fashion” in the name, but it is whole-heartedly committed to keeping the custard craze alive now and in the future. They describe their mission as bringing back the fond memories of the roadside burger stands from childhood, and they absolutely accomplish that goal. Try out a sundae, shake, or malt — classic custard flavors that are always available include sweet cream, chocolate, and the flavor of the day. 

LeDuc’s

240 W Summit Avenue, Wales

For over 40 years, LeDuc’s has been serving up the classic custard you know and love — in fact, they’re still serving the original custard recipe they opened with! Here, you can enjoy burgers, chicken, and plenty of sides, but their real pride and joy is featuring 75 different flavors of the day. They also offer a wide selection of pints and quarts to take home.

Robert’s Frozen Custard & Jumbo Burgers

Located in Germantown, Robert’s Frozen Custard serves up delicious custard delights and incredible customer service. They take pride in their “Guest First” policy, which allows customers to enjoy great custard even late, staying open 10 more minutes after their official closing hours. Not only does Robert’s have a flavor of the day, but they also have a soup of the day and several monthly specials. 

Georgie Porgies Bugers & Custard

Oak Creek or Racine

Georgie Porgie’s claim to fame is being named one of Wisconsin’s most amazing dining spots that’s so much more than an amazing place to eat. Add them to your list of must-visit classic custard stands this summer and enjoy their unique Treefort restaurant. On any given month, they feature a new burger and sundae of the month — staying true to Wisconsin traditions, this August, you can try a Wisco State Fair burger and a Loaded Cream Puff sundae.
