She went to Boston University on an athletics scholarship, playing soccer at the Division I school while she earned her degree in film and television.

As a reporter at Boston entertainment outlet Dirty Water Media, she gained experience conducting on-air interviews, which likely helped her prepare for her eventual podcast hosting career.

4. In 2018, Cooper started the “Call Her Daddy” podcast with her roommate at the time, Sofia Franklyn.

The podcast immediately became a hit. Just one month after launching, it was acquired by Barstool Sports and had millions of listeners within months. In 2020, a contract disagreement with Barstool led to Franklyn’s exit, leaving Cooper to host the show alone.

5. According to Spotify, “Call Her Daddy” was the second-most popular podcast in the world in 2023.

It was also the most popular podcast hosted by a woman. Cooper has interviewed celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Simone Biles, Jane Fonda, and Post Malone.

Fans consider themselves part of the “Daddy Gang,” led by Cooper herself—or shall we say, “Father Cooper.”

“The Daddy Gang is a bunch of predominantly women that are excited to engage in a roller coaster where we don’t know what happens next, but we’re on the ride with Alex,” Cooper told Fortune in 2022.

6. In 2021, Cooper signed a three-year deal with Spotify worth $60 million. But in August 2024, she signed a new multi-year agreement with SiriusXM for as much as $125 million.

“The Daddy Gang wants more, so we’re getting ready to give them more … I can’t wait for this new chapter to begin,” Cooper said in a statement on the SiriusXM deal. (The podcast will still be available on Spotify.)

Cooper has previously said she has felt “pigeonholed” as a host who only discusses sex when she wants to branch out and focus on topics like mental health and feminism.

7. In April 2024, Cooper married Matt Kaplan, a producer.

Kaplan is a film producer who has worked on movies such as the cinematic masterpiece “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Cooper and Kaplan were married in a small ceremony in Riviera Maya on the coast of Mexico.

8. Cooper interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris in early October 2024, a month before the presidential election.

She largely discussed women’s issues with the Democratic nominee for president, including abortion rights. While Cooper usually strays away from politics—except for criticizing the overturning of Roe v. Wade—she said that she “couldn’t see a world in which one of the main conversations in this election is women, and I’m not a part of it.” Cooper also said she had extended an interview invitation to the Trump campaign.

9. Alex and her husband are dog parents.

The pair have two goldendoodles, Henry and Bruce, whose fluffy presence is often seen on Cooper’s social media accounts. “Some may recognize them as goldendoodles, but we see them as our children,” Cooper told Vogue in 2024. In fact, the dogs served as ring bearers at Cooper and Kaplan’s wedding—and were also featured in a sand sculpture for the couple’s beachside ceremony.
