9 Puerto Rican superstars with Florida concerts in 2024

0 31

From now until the end of 2024, Boricuas in the Sunshine State can enjoy a wide variety of the island’s best musical superstars live at Florida concerts.

Puerto Rico is known for many enchanting things: the warmth of its people, its beautiful historic towns of colorful houses and adoquines-paved streets, its spectacular azure beaches, and – ¡por supuesto! – its delicious food.

But if there is one thing that stands out above all else, it’s the island’s music. Whether it’s salsa, bomba, plena, or reggaeton, Puerto Rico excels with true maestros in any genre.

Of course, for Boricuas living in Florida who grew up listening to the wonderful sounds of Ednita Nazario, Chayanne, or the fiery Olga Tañón, seeing those artists perform brings back all the memories of home.

The good news? From now until the end of the year, Floridians will be able to enjoy a wide variety of the island’s best musical Superstars, with a capital S.

So, are you ready, mi gente? Here are nine great Puerto Rican artists offering concerts in Florida from August to December.

El Laberinto del Coco

If, as Gloria Estefan sings, you “love to hear percussion,” then Héctor “Coco” Barez’s group, El Laberinto del Coco, a genre-bending collective built around the folklore and rhythmic styles of Puerto Rican bomba, is definitely your thing.

Digging deep into the African roots of the “call-and-response” musical style, this group – with four superb vocalists and four masterful horn players –  is a deeply Boricua reminder of the power of bomba to create a sense of community.

Known for his unique nasal tone, and for infusing traditional Spanish elements into his songs, Montañez sang with two legends of Boricua music: El Gran Combo and Dimensión Latina.

Does the word “legendary” do him justice? When taking into account that he also holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling tropical/salsa artist and the most number-one albums on the Billboard Tropical Albums year-end charts, the answer is obvious.
