Where you should live in Virginia, based on your zodiac sign

Looking for somewhere to live in Virginia but not sure where to start? Here’s which place best suits your zodiac sign.

The beautiful state of Virginia is home to an array of different communities. Some are more scenic and suburban, and others provide everything you could ever hope for from city life. Trying to figure out which of these options you’re best suited to can be tricky sometimes. Especially if, like me, you want to have a balance between living somewhere quiet and having direct access to a city where you can visit museums and attend concerts when you feel like it.

A fun and easy way to narrow down your living options is to see what area of the state may best align with your zodiac sign. If you’re one of those people who don’t feel a strong attachment to your sun sign (AKA the sign that reflects your birthdate), you can always browse through these options to learn more about the cities listed anyway. You never know what might spark your interest!

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Arlington

Arlington is a great place to live if you’re an ambitious Aries. You have a world of historic sites right at your doorstep, and you’re in a good position here to climb the career ladder because you’re so close to many prestigious buildings and organizations. If you want to quiet your determined side for a beat, go for a long hike along the Mount Vernon Trail or spend an afternoon power shopping at Village at Shirlington.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Vienna

Tauruses prefer being in softer, more scenic environments and would likely thrive in Vienna because of this. If you’re a Taurus, you’ll feel completely at ease at the Vienna Farmers Market, the Freeman Store & Museum, and the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. These places allow you to connect with your community while doing so in a way that feels more comfortable because it isn’t as noisy here as it is in the bigger cities.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Virginia Beach

Gemini is an air sign represented by the celestial twins, as this is the best way to symbolize the dual aspects of their personalities. As a Gemini, you’re equally cool and social, and Virginia Beach is basically the physical embodiment of these main qualities. There’s the oceanfront for the days when you want to socialize at a slower pace and Apex Entertainment when you want to kick things up a notch.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Brambleton

Community is front-and-center in Brambleton, and homebody Cancer will fit right in here because of that. Yes, there are festivals, concerts, and farmers markets in Brambleton, but there’s also the Regional Park for days when Cancer is feeling particularly sensitive and wants to spend time alone reading or birdwatching. You’re also close to Ashburn here, which gives you the ability to be more social when you want to step outside your cozy boundaries for a day or two.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Gloucester

History, culture, and nature? Gloucester is really the place to be if you’re a lavish-loving Leo. Visiting the Gloucester Arts on Main gives you the chance to support local artists or even display those paintings you’ve been working on for ages. (Come on, Leo, I know you want to!). In between working on your art or flexing your theatrical skills, you can meet friends for drinks and dinner at the Gloucester Brewing Company.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Richmond

As a Virgo, you take a logical approach to just about everything in your life. Living in Richmond lets you exercise that practicality in new ways, both professionally and recreationally. Spending time at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts or The Poe Museum will inspire you to channel your perfectionism into a new pursuit. If you want to look for new jobs, though, there’s the Virginia State Capitol and a host of local businesses and restaurants you can apply to as well.

Libra (September 23 – October 22): Charlottesville

Charlottesville really ticks all of Libra’s boxes because it provides equal opportunity to experience the gorgeous natural landscape and to have direct access to city amenities. Libra’s zodiac sign is a picture of scales for a reason. You’re constantly seeking balance if you fall under this astrological sign. Being able to walk out your door and head toward either James Monroe’s Highland or the Downtown Mall makes it easier to maintain a balance between solitude and socializing.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Blacksburg

Scorpios are often misunderstood because they have a tendency to be opinionated, which can cause conflict with other zodiac signs. At their core, though, Scorpios are just passionate beings who want what’s best for everyone. Blacksburg would be a good place for them to live because this area places a strong emphasis on community. Whether you’re chatting about seasonal fruit at the Blacksburg Farmers Market or you’re sharing appetizers at the Blacksburg Tavern, you’ll be able to pay it forward in your community with everything you do.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Williamsburg

Sagittarians are always on the quest for knowledge, and what better place to celebrate that than in Williamsburg? This historic district is home to Colonial Williamsburg, the Jamestown Settlement, and Busch Gardens. You can learn more about American history before heading to Busch Gardens to indulge your adventurous side or just visit the animals. The surroundings will be picturesque and inspiring, no matter where you go here.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Falls Church

Resilient, rebellious, and fearless are some of the best words to describe Capricorns. This sign thrives in pretty much every situation they find themselves in, and living in Falls Church will allow them to maintain a slower pace of life while still indulging their wild side every now and then. Enjoy a night of live music at the State Theatre or grab a beer at the Audacious Aleworks Brewery or the Settle Down Easy Brewing Co. Then, take a day to recharge at the Falls Church Farmers Market.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Alexandria

At their core, Aquarians are humanitarians who want to make the world a better place. Alexandria is a good location for them because it enables them to learn about the area’s history, and in turn, this gives them the knowledge and tools they need to enact lasting change. To draw inspiration when you need it the most, visit the Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum, Old Town Alexandria Waterfront, and the Stable-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, just to name a few.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Lynchburg

Since Pisces is the last zodiac sign, they’re essentially a mix of the personalities and traits of the other signs before them. They’re emotional and empathetic, like Cancer, and adaptable like Sagittarius. Lynchburg is a strong reflection of this combination of traits and energy. Old City Cemetery will become one of your favorite places to go for a walk when you’re feeling particularly emotional. When you’re feeling more energetic, there’s the FunQuest Family Entertainment Center.
