How to celebrate 2025 Oktoberfest in Houston

Find authentic German beer gardens, bratwurst, live polka music, and traditional festivities at Houston’s 2025 Oktoberfest events.

Everyone loves a wedding, but who knew a one-day party would turn into a 200-year tradition that is still going strong?

Oktoberfest—that ultimate German party that features dancing, singing, and steins filled with beer—all started with a wedding between Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Bavaria, one that was so much fun, it grew into a worldwide annual excuse to imbibe.

Today, cities and small towns across the U.S. participate in Oktoberfest, and why not? It’s a gathering of festive music, community fun, and a celebration of culture. Houstonians love all three, so you’ll find plenty of opportunities around the city to drink local beers created just for the occasion and eat traditional German food seasoned with a Houston flair.

No matter where you choose to party, follow these tips.

  1. Arrive early! Most Oktoberfest events feature long communal tables to encourage large group fun, and you’ll need to snag your seat before it becomes standing room only.
  2. Wear whatever you like, but comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. If you don’t arrive early enough or if you plan to follow the tradition of visiting with strangers and dancing the polka, you’ll be glad you’re wearing your most comfortable shoes.
  3. Speaking of clothes, this is your chance to don your lederhosen and dirndls, so shop now and be ready for the contests. Sure, you’ll be fine in jeans and a T-shirt, but traditional costumes are much appreciated and sometimes pay off in prizes and special treatment.
  4. Drink responsibly, have a designated driver, or be the smartest person in the room and use a ride app.

Now, without further ado, here’s our list of great places to celebrate Oktoberfest in Houston!
