Rush Bowls Hangover Cure smoothie (Rush Bowls)

1. Rush Bowls Hangover Cure smoothie

Location: 2811 Hillsborough St., Ste. 105, Raleigh

When it comes to curing a hangover, hydration is key. A well-made smoothie with the right ingredients (think banana, pear, coconut water, and oats) is an excellent elixir for anyone suffering the consequences of an alcohol-filled night out.

Rush Bowls’ aptly named Hangover Cure smoothie includes fruits, such as a prickly pear and banana, fruit juices, oats, a multivitamin, and a hangover antioxidant. You can choose from five different types of milk and add on any of the 14 available “boosts,” which include protein, spirulina, and one that’s simply called hangover. Rush Bowls also sells a variety of açaí bowls, coffee, and light bites.

2. Bagels from Benchwarmers Bagels

Location: 500 E. Davie St., Raleigh

Carbohydrates are also an important ingredient for hangover recovery. Benchwarmers Bagels’ menu is full of carbs in the form of bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Bagel options range from plain and everything to za’atar and poppy. There are classic cream cheese flavors, such as plain, as well as unique varieties, like pecan butterscotch and Carolina Reaper, plus a cashew-based option that’s vegan friendly.

For a heartier breakfast, opt for one of the sandwiches, like the fried bologna sandwich with yellow mustard, egg, and American cheese, or a classic egg sandwich.
