Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness” is set to film in Fort Worth’s Cultural District next week. Here’s everything you need to know.

Taylor Sheridan’s name has been splashed across DFW headlines for years now thanks to the filmmaker’s continued dedication to setting and filming shows in the Lone Star State. One of his ongoing projects, “Lioness,” originally filmed in Maryland, Spain, and France before Sheridan moved production to North Texas. That series is slated to film in Fort Worth’s Cultural District next week, and we’ve got all the information you need to either scope out the fun (respectfully!), or to avoid the area altogether if you don’t want to get caught up in any traffic or inconveniences.

The Fort Worth Report notes that a stretch of University Drive will be closed beginning on March 24 at midnight and will remain shut down until March 26 at 4 a.m. The affected portion is between West Freeway and West Lancaster Avenue, and city permits have confirmed the information. If you already have a trip to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden planned for those days, don’t panic! You can still access the botanic garden, you’ll just need to enter through its gate on Trail Drive (which you can get to from Montgomery Street) and exit that way as well. Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be directed by on-site police officers to prevent hiccups and ensure that everyone can access the homes, stores, restaurants, and other locations they may want to get to in the area on March 24-26.

At this point, locals are pretty used to Sheridan’s crew closing down streets for production. In October 2025, Ryan Place and Berkeley Place saw similar closures when the third season of “Lioness” originally began filming. Since the actor/writer/filmmaker/creator likes to set his shows here (and even partnered with Paramount and others to build a production studio in Fort Worth), it’s safe to say he’s learned how to get the shots he needs without interrupting daily life too much.

Locals can get in on the action in more than one way

“Lioness” stars some serious Hollywood talent, including Zoe Saldaña, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman. If you’ve been looking for a chance to brush elbows with them or put your acting skills to the test, now’s your time to shine! Both “Lioness” and Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series “Frisco King” are currently looking for extras over the next few weeks. The Dallas Morning News has the full breakdown of dates, what his crew is looking for, and how to apply, at this link.

For some quick highlights: “Lioness” is looking for a variety of extras on March 25, when they’ll be filming in Fort Worth, and will pay between $110-$200 for 10-12 hours of work. “Frisco King,” Taylor Sheridan’s new series starring Samuel L. Jackson, is seeking extras for a smattering of days between March 20 and April 14. Pay varies depending on the role and how long you’ll be required to work, though most shoot days are scheduled to last between 10-12 hours for that series as well.

You’ll need to make an account with MyCastingFile and provide the information and application needed to be considered. Best of luck! Er, excuse me, break a leg!
