Eating out as a family can be a lot of fun. It allows loved ones to come together over a shared meal without having to put in all the time and effort required for cooking. However, dining out can be expensive. Luckily, some Virginia restaurants let kids eat for free when paired with an adult meal. 

Here’s your guide to the seven restaurants (and one ice cream parlor) in Virginia Beach, as well as two nearby restaurants, where kids can eat for free. 

Aloha Snacks

Location: 501 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach

Aloha Snacks bills itself as offering “food for the relaxed.” Kids get to eat for free with the purchase of a burger or bowl for $10 during happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. on Mondays. 

The minors’ menu includes the Little Kahuna burger, a plain burger, kid’s chicken with fries, kid’s hotdog with fries, salmon rice bowl, pineapple fruit bowl, and teriyaki chicken and rice bowl. 

Accompanying adults may consider ordering one of the following bowls or burgers: South Pacific Farmer, Shio Ramen, Hawaiian Cowboy, or Mana Burger.

The Dirty Buffalo

Location: 2080 S Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach

Visit The Dirty Buffalo anytime on Monday, where one free kid’s meal is offered with the purchase of an adult entrée. The family-friendly sports bar that opened in 2012 bills itself as “more than just a wing joint.” 

Options for kids 12 and under include chicken tenders, grilled cheese, boneless wings, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, and hamburgers. The meals come with a side of French fries, home fries, tots, macaroni salad, baked beans, coleslaw, broccoli, apple slices, or apple sauce. 

Adults might like one of the dirty plates, like the dirty chicken. It comes with breaded chicken tenders, coated in your choice of sauce, piled on a bed of macaroni and cheese and home fries. 

Boujiee Dogs & Cocktails

Location: 2951 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach

Boujiee Dogs & Cocktails is the place to go in Virginia Beach for a gourmet hot dog. Kids eat for free all day on Tuesdays. The special applies to children 10 and under. One free kid’s meal is offered per adult order.

Some of the hot dog options include a Lincoln log dog, macaroni and cheese dog, Chicago dog, L.A. street dog, Dougie fair dog, California dog, Norfolk snap dog, and Polish dog. 

If you take your kid during happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m., you can order a $1-off domestic or imported beer to wash down your hot dog. 

Pop’s Diner Co.

Locations: 675 Phoenix Dr., Virginia Beach, and & 5720 Northampton Blvd., Virginia Beach

Pop’s Diner Co. is known for its kids eat for free all day, every day offering. 

The breakfast menu includes items like the kids’ breakfast, one egg, home fries, a choice of bacon or sausage link, and French toast and egg. The lunch menu offers kids the option of chicken tenders, grilled cheese, creamy macaroni and cheese, and a kids’ burger. 

The diner is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. 

Ocean Grill Buffet

Location: 3877 Holland Rd. #416, Virginia Beach

Ocean Grill Buffet offers all-you-can-eat seafood and more. Menu items include sushi, salads, ribs, Chinese dishes, hibachi (grilled to order), seasonal fruit, and dessert. 

The buffet is free for children under 3 and under 38 inches in height. Both requirements need to be met to qualify for the free meal. 

The Monday through Friday lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. offers the best value for adults at $14.99. 

Yukai Byuffe

Location: 1952 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach

Serving both lunch and dinner, Yukai Byuffee is an all-you-can-eat Japanese and seafood buffet. 

Children 2 and under get to eat for free. The price of an adult meal is $14.99 for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and $22.99 for dinner from 4 to 10 p.m. Be sure to print the 10% off any adult buffet meal when using a cash coupon

Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach – North Beach 

Location: 3900 Atlantic Ave., Virginia Beach

Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach – North Beach is an oceanfront resort with three restaurant options: the Greenery, Square Whale, and Isle of Capri. 

The kids’ eat-for-free menu includes both breakfast and lunch/dinner options. It’s available for children 11 and younger when accompanied by an adult order from the regular menu. The offering is only available to registered guests. 

For breakfast, kids can have their choice of mini malted waffles with bacon, eggs with bacon and toast, oatmeal, fresh fruit and yogurt, and cereal with milk. Each meal comes with a choice of orange juice or milk.

For lunch and dinner, kids can pick from grilled cheese and fresh fruit, macaroni and cheese with vegetables, chicken fingers with fries, cheeseburger and fries, grilled chicken and fries, and pizza with fresh fruit. Each meal comes with a frozen treat, as well as a choice of milk or a soft drink.  

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream

Location: 4921 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream doesn’t want the joy of a rich cone of ice cream to be lost on the little ones, so it offers free baby cones to those under 40 inches in height. They’re able to select from a broad range of flavors, including classics like butter pecan and chocolate, as well as more unique offerings like cotton candy explosion and white raspberry truffle. 

Vegan non-dairy oat milk and no-sugar-added ice cream options are available.

The restaurant allows children 5 and under to eat for free at all times. 

Sportsmans Grille

Location: 240 McLaws CIR., Williamsburg

Sportsmans Grille is the place to go in Williamsburg for a casual dining experience, whether you like sports or not. 

It offers free meals for kids all day, every day, with the purchase of an adult meal (available only to dine-in customers). All you have to do is mention you saw the promotion on the grille’s website. 

Kid’s menu options that are available for those 10 and under include Kinsley’s southern fried chicken strips, burger sliders, fried shrimp basket, grilled cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and white cheddar macaroni and cheese. They come with a choice of soda, lemonade, juice, milk, and iced tea. 

Take your kid on a Wednesday and order the all-you-can-eat salad, bread, and spaghetti with meat sauce, or on a Friday for all-you-can-eat crab legs.
