From outdoor fests to cool indoor escapes, San Antonio’s summer calendar is packed with events worth braving the heat for.

No matter how hot it gets in San Antonio come summer (high humidity and even higher temps, anyone?), the locals don’t slow down. Summer activities in SA pull everyone outdoors starting in June, and they don’t stop even during sweltering August. 

Smart San Antonians never miss a beat—they find water activities, pursue outdoor fun during the mornings and evenings, and schedule indoor air-conditioned activities to balance it all out. 

This summer, Alamo City’s packed calendar includes plenty of outdoor festivals and fairs, along with indoor events and exhibits, providing a much-needed escape from the summer heat.

June events in San Antonio

2026 Juneteenth Festival

When: Jun. 19 and 20

Time: Kicks off at 9 a.m.

Where: Comanche Park #2, 2300 Rigsby Ave. 

This annual event honors the day when enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their freedom, a full two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The news arrived in Galveston on June 19, 1865, and quickly spread through Texas. 

San Antonio marks this significant day with its annual Juneteenth Festival, a two-day event that features live music, food and drinks, family activities, and a celebratory atmosphere. This year, P-Funk Outlawz takes the main stage, along with 12 Eleven Band out of Destin, FL. 

River Walk Summer Artisan Show

When: Jun. 19 to 21 

Time: Fri. through Sat.,11 a.m. – 11 p.m.;  Sun., 11 a.m.– 8 p.m. 

Where: River Walk Extension, near Shops at Rivercenter

Support local businesses and take home one-of-a-kind purchases at the River Walk Summer Artisan Show, which showcases work from over 40 local artists.

Located in the downtown area of the River Walk, which is already chock-full of places to stop, shop, and savor, the artisan show is the place to find gifts for yourself and others that are all handmade—artwork, clothing, jewelry, home goods, and on and on. At the summer show, you’ll find special seasonal items that reflect San Antonio culture and history.

Pride Bigger Than Texas Festival

When: Jun. 27

Times:  11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Where: Crockett Park, 1300 N. Main Ave. 

Texas has always been full of pride, and the LGBTQ+ community is no exception, proudly celebrating San Antonio’s diversity and inclusion for all at the Pride Bigger Than Texas Festival.

Bring the entire family to this event, where you will enjoy a colorful parade, live performances, and joyful events that last all day. Community resources that support equity and diversity are available.

San Antonio Zoo

When: All summer

Times:  Sun. through Fri., 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

Where: 3903 N. St. Mary’s St. 

When the San Antonio Zoo debuted its newest exhibit, Congo Falls, in 2025, it took the typical zoo experience to a whole new level. During the summer months, the zoo extends its hours on Saturdays, so you’ll have all the time you need to visit the gorillas in Congo Falls and so much more.

The two-acre gorilla habitat is a must-see, with the world’s tallest 70-ft. gorilla tower, 30-ft. waterfall, and the stars of the show, seven Western Lowland gorillas skillfully climbing structures that replicate an African jungle. There are even climate-controlled sections so you can watch gorilla interactions in air-conditioned comfort. 

July events in San Antonio

Star-Spangled Nights at Six Flags Fiesta Texas 

When: Jul. 3-4

Times: 10:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Where: 1700 IH-10 West

As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is putting on an impressive event to commemorate a quarter of a century of freedom. 

Star-Spangled Nights has everything: award-winning and heart-racing rides like Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger and the Iron Rattler. Hurricane Harbor San Antonio Waterpark, where you can splash, swim, and slide to your heart’s content. And this July 3 and 4, a 360-degree fireworks spectacular set to patriotic music.

So grab a turkey leg or hot dog at one of the many food venues and spend the day with family and friends. Six Flags will send you off with a bang!

CineFestival San Antonio

When: Jul. 9-12

Times: TBD (Follow their website for updates)

Where: Guadalupe Culture Arts Center

Calling all film buffs! The oldest and longest-running Latino film festival is held right here in SA, and you can enjoy every moment of being a couch potato at CineFestival San Antonio.

Settle in to binge movies produced by 100 Latinx, Chicanx, and International Latin American filmmakers. It’s all part of the competition where CineFestival screens, recognizes, and awards standout performances. You can join the action celebrating local and international cinema while learning about this community’s heritage and culture. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. 

Fiesta Noche del Rio

When: Every Fri. and Sat. through Aug. 1

Times: Shows start at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Arneson River Theatre on the San Antonio River Walk

Most people discover Fiesta Noche del Rio spontaneously. They stroll along the Riverwalk, hear lively music, and follow their ears to the historic Arneson River Theatre. 

For the last 69 years, the theatre has been home to music, dance, and culture, and this summer you can be wowed by the energetic performances that take place on stage. Take a seat on the coliseum-style arched stone steps and be carried away by vibrantly colored costumes, live music, and spirited dance that represent the heritage of San Antonio. Every summer brings back audience favorites and introduces new works, so even if you’ve attended before, you shouldn’t miss Fiesta Noche del Rio 2026.

August events in San Antonio

San Antonio Garden Show

When: Jul. 31 – Aug. 2 

Times: Fri. 12 – 8 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sun. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: The Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

Are your home and garden looking sad and tired after a summer of relentless heat? Get inspired for a refresh at the San Antonio Garden Show, and come home with ideas and products that will make your life easier (and much more creative).

The 2026 event includes demonstrations on home remodeling, interior design, and landscaping, and even the kids can get involved at the Little Lonestar Learner’s Lab. Find local treasures to dress up your home—inside and out—at the marketplace, and refuel with festival food so you can shop ‘til you drop. 

San Antonio Restaurant Week

When: Aug. 8 – 29

Times: Lunch and dinner, varies by restaurant

Where: Restaurants across San Antonio

In 2026, San Antonio Restaurant Week is stretched to a full three weeks, giving foodies a chance to try any number of feasts served up in SA’s local restaurants.

You’ll find special pre-fixe menus for lunch and dinner that give you a taste of the chef’s best dishes. Restaurant choices include everything from neighborhood bistros to fine dining, so you can order some casual Tex-Mex or don your finest fashion for filet mignon. 

Tip: Reference the online San Antonio Restaurant Week list of restaurants as soon as it goes live, peruse the corresponding menus, and make your reservations early!
