Elevate your fitness routine—literally!—with these eight places to rock climb in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Does anything beat the exhilarating feeling of scaling up a cliff and enjoying the view from the top? Activating every muscle in your body, pushing yourself beyond your limits, and figuring out the best way to the top make rock climbing such a rewarding experience.

Whether you’re new to the climbing world or a seasoned pro, you can find many fun and challenging rock-climbing courses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. You can bring your own equipment to top-rope climb outdoors, where you are connected by rope to an anchor above with a partner belaying you from below. Alternatively, you can go to an indoor facility to try bouldering with no ropes or harnesses, where you free climb at a shorter elevation.

Many places also offer programs (and summer camps!) for kids, classes for all skill levels, and other unique features to keep climbing stimulating and different every time.

1. Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway

100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells

Get outside to rock climb in real life at Lake Mineral Wells State Park and Trailway. Inside the park is Penitentiary Hollow, a natural rock-climbing area made of sandstone formations, with cliffs ranging from 20 to 40 feet high. You can test your top-rope climbing and rappelling skills for free with the price of entry ($7 per day for adults and free for children 12 and under).

Rock climbing courses are also available through Rock About Climbing Adventures, making this a great place even for beginners. (Note: No free climbing, soloing, or bouldering is allowed here.) Afterward, jump in Lake Mineral Wells to cool off and enjoy the scenery.

Climbing should be joyful, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Movement. Try bouldering or ropes climbing on one of the colorful courses for all skill levels. Or, take a break with an on-site yoga class or fitness area.

Download the KAYA app to log your climbs and get personalized recommendations. You can also grow your climbing skills with various classes for beginners and experienced climbers, or through private coaching. Movement hosts themed climb nights, youth programs, and other ways to foster a climbing community.

It’s more than just a place to work out—it’s a safe space to bond, have fun, and soar to new heights. Sign up for a 15-day trial membership for $39, with membership fees varying by location.

3. Hapik Firewheel

550 Town Center Boulevard, Garland

Combine gaming and fun with physical activity, and you get Hapik—a place for kids and adults to level up their rock-climbing experience. The walls in this facility contain more than rocks; you might use Crocs to help you reach the top instead! Many of the courses also include digital elements with hidden boxes to scan and puzzles to solve while climbing.

There are vertical challenges, a soft play area for toddlers, and an aerial ropes course that add to the fun. A 2-hour climbing pass is $26.90, with discounts for groups and on select days.

4. Bolder Adventure Park

2324 West Warrior Trail, Grand Prairie

Bolder Adventure Park looks more like an epic amusement park than a rock-climbing gym, with a 60-foot-tall faux mountain inside that includes tunnels, ladders, caves, and more challenges. Additional activities include ropes courses, zip lines, a jump pad, tubing slides, a blaster zone, bumper cars, archery, arcades, and free-fall experiences, among other things.

With so much to explore, you’ll want to keep coming back again and again! Tickets start at $27.99.

5. Canyons Rock Climbing

7164 Technology Drive, Suite 202, Frisco

With 78 rope climbing courses and more than 50 bouldering routes, there are plenty of ways to challenge yourself at Canyons Rock Climbing. Locals who’ve been there praise the “friendly and welcoming” environment and “very attentive and supportive” employees on Yelp. If you’re looking for a place that’s beginner-friendly with plenty of room for expert growth, Canyons is perfect!

For serious climbers, you can take coaching lessons or climbing classes, or sign up your kids for a youth summer camp. Day passes are $19 for ages 13 and older, and $13 for those 12 and under.

6. Blok Climbing

5252 West Vickery Boulevard, Fort Worth

Why go rock climbing when you could go Blok Climbing instead? The Blok Climbing Co. is a bouldering gym for all skill levels, with wall angles set up from –5° to 65°. They create 100 new problem sets every month to continually challenge members, making it feel new every time you come.

Feeling sore afterward? Relax in the ice bath or sauna to help your body recover. Another perk of Blok Climbing is that they are open for 24 hours, meaning you can get your climb on whenever the mood strikes. Prices are $20 for adults ages 16 and up, and $15 for kids 15 and under.

5651 Nebraska Furniture Mart Drive, The Colony

There is over 100,000 square feet of fun packed into Fritz’s Adventure, an indoor facility with places to climb, crawl, and zip line. The impressive place was started by a dad and former construction worker who wanted to create a place for kids (and their grown-ups) to climb and play together.

“You can really spend all day here and not even notice the time because of how much fun it is,” one happy climber shared on Yelp.

Tickets are $24.99 for general admission and $34.99 for an All Access pass. Kids 4 and under are free.

8. Trinity Forest Adventure Park
