Addison’s Kaboom Town landed the No. 4 spot on USA Today’s 10 Best Places to See Fireworks list. Here’s what you need to know.

Not that I ever want to wish time away, but Fourth of July already feels like it’s right around the corner. What better way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than with one of the best fireworks displays in the United States? Well, if you’re in Texas then you’re in luck, because Addison’s Kaboom Town recently made USA Today’s 10 Best Places to See Fireworks, landing at the No. 4 spot.

The 25-minute fireworks extravaganza was praised by USA Today because it’s viewable across all of Addison, and it’s a unique celebration featuring live music, a kid-friendly fun zone, and more food options than you can count. Kaboom Town was held for the first time in 1985 and has remained an annual tradition ever since. To further prove just how impressive the celebration is, this isn’t the first time Kaboom Town has made USA Today’s list. It was recognized as being one of the best last year, too.

As WFAA pointed out, tickets are required to attend the patriotic event and often sell out quickly, so let’s go over how you can snag yours in advance.

How to get tickets

Addison’s Kaboom Town is scheduled to take place on July 3 at Addison Circle Park from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The fireworks display starts at 9:30 p.m. The event is expected to bring in upwards of 500,000 visitors, so grabbing your tickets beforehand is a good idea. Tickets officially go on sale on June 1 and can be purchased at this link. Tickets for anyone 10 years of age and older cost $10, for children between the ages of two and nine it will cost $5, and children under two years old are admitted for free, but still require a ticket for entry.

If you happen to miss out on buying tickets, don’t panic, because you can still enjoy the dazzling show from pretty much anywhere in town. Numerous watch parties are held throughout Addison for those who want to enjoy the fireworks but are unable to purchase tickets to the official Kaboom Town event. The entire 4.4 square miles encompassing the town are transformed for this one celebration, so you’ll be able to enjoy yourself no matter what.

For those who do purchase tickets, in addition to the fireworks, Kaboom Town will also host Addison Airport Airshow performances that evening and operate a food festival filled with delicious options the whole family will enjoy. The exact sequence of events is as follows:

  • 5:00 p.m. – Addison Circle Park’s gates open for visitors
  • 6:30 p.m. – 36th Infantry Band performance
  • 8:00 p.m. – A special presentation of the Colors and National Anthem
  • 8:30 p.m. – The Elton Johns performance
  • 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks Show
  • 10:00 p.m. – Emerald City All-Stars performance
