When the winter seems like it’ll never end, you need to leave the house — but you don’t need to leave the comfort of the indoors. For instance, you can pack up the kids and head to an indoor amusement park, where you can forget about the goings-on of the outside world and instead focus on some temperature-controlled leisure time.

We’ve put together a list of indoor amusement parks, adventure parks, and other entertainment centers across the state that are great places for kids — and their parents — to play. While the kids have fun in bumper cars or on the playground, parents may hang out at the bars located in some parks or they may take a turn at some grown-up rides and games.

When these parks say, “fun for the whole family,” they actually mean it!

Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park – King of Prussia

Located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania’s Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park is an indoor park simply full of attractions. The facility has more than 30 ridiculously fun obstacle courses as well as rock climbing, trampolines, and giant slides, all of which are included with the price of admission and allow adults to play as well.

For an extra cost, visitors can play laser tag, enjoy arcade games, and try their hands at a special experience that adults are sure to love: a virtual reality roller coaster! That means parents can take a ride with their kids without emptying their stomachs!

Tilt Studio and Tilted 10 – Altoona and Willow Grove 

Tilt Studio operates a handful of amusement centers across the country, with two located in the great state of Pennsylvania. In central Pa., Tilt Studio in Altoona provides families with fun diversions like laser tag, bumper cars, mini golf, mini bowling, and arcade games. All of these can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Ever had a family laser tag tournament? 

On the eastern side of the state near Philly, Tilted 10 in Willow Grove is an entertainment center located inside the Willow Grove Park Mall. Tilted 10 has many of the same attractions as Tilt Studio in Altoona does, except that Tilted 10 is more focused on bowling (the bowling lanes at this indoor amusement park are full-size). Plus, Tilted 10 has a taco bar that allows parents to BYOB — at no cost! 

Spooky Nook Sports Center – Manheim

As the largest indoor sports complex in the country, it should be no surprise that Spooky Nook Sports Center is an indoor entertainment center that has something for everyone. The facility in Lancaster County has indoor playing fields, batting cages, and courts for athletes as well as a climbing gym, arcade, and fitness center. You could spend an entire day at Spooky Nook because the place even has a food court. Most people who visit are families with kids; they may play sports as a family, but parents can also relax at the restaurant bar while the kids practice.

Great Wolf Lodge – Scotrun

Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park located in the Pocono Mountains. No matter the weather outside, you can don your bathing suit and enjoy the water slides and lazy river at Great Wolf. All of these can be just as fun for parents as they are for children, but the best part of the park for adults may be the North Hot Springs. This hot tub area is reserved for adults 21 and older, so you can relax while the kids ride the same slide over and over. However, if you want your kids to join you in the hot tub area, all ages are welcome in the South Hot Springs. And if you ever tire of getting pruney fingers, you and your family can also enjoy a number of dry attractions including a ropes course and an arcade.

Full Throttle Adrenaline Park Pittsburgh – Monroeville

This indoor entertainment center is definitely parent-friendly, with some attractions designed just for adults. Full Throttle Adrenaline Park has a host of adrenaline-fueling activities meant to get your blood pumping, like go-kart racing, axe throwing, arcade games, and a rage room (designed for you to purposely break things).

The all-electric go-karts and mini-karts leave no smelly fumes and can be raced by drivers as young as 3 years old. Axe throwing is limited to those ages 12 and up and the rage room is limited to those 16 and up. Plus, the park has a restaurant and bar onsite — all that heart-racing action might make you hungry.

Urban Air Adventure Parks – Multiple Locations

Urban Air Adventure Park is a franchised entertainment facility known for its trampolines—but it has a lot more to offer than that, like bumper cars, obstacle courses, dodgeball, ropes courses, and more. And while adults can enjoy all of these attractions, Urban Air parks also regularly host Parents Night Out events to give parents a break! So yes, though parents are bound to have fun with their kids at Urban Air, during Parents Night Out, you can drop your kids off and then go out on the town, assured that the kids are safe, fed, and entertained.
