In the classified documents case, Judge Aileen Cannon rejected Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment. The indictment was instituted by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith. This indictment is based on the Presidential Records Act, which Trump argues gave him the power to hold onto documents containing sensitive national security details.
Judge Cannon also declined Mr. Smith’s appeal for a quick ruling on jury instructions before the trial, labeling the prosecution’s request as “unprecedented and unjust”.
In the Georgia election interference case, Judge Scott McAfee also disregarded an attempt by Trump and his co-defendants to dismiss the indictment on the grounds of free speech.
Ms. James in New York filed a notice requesting evidence that Knight Specialty Insurance Company, the entity backing Trump’s bond, can cover the costs if required.
Amidst these legal proceedings, Trump had to resubmit critical paperwork related to the bond on Thursday after it was rejected due to missing information.
