From Houston to South Padre Island, the Texas Gulf Coast comes alive each summer with festivals for every taste and interest.

The Texas Gulf Coast spans a swath of Texas from big-city, touristy Houston all the way down to the white sand beaches of South Padre Island. Come summer, locals and visitors from all over the world make the drive down this popular coast to explore Southeast Texas and grab a bit of summer fun.

A huge draw—beyond the opportunity to traverse the tropical side of Texas—is the summer festivals you can enjoy at every turn. We’ve curated a list of festivals in the Texas Gulf that offer everything from art to music to Shakespearean drama, so read on and start filling your calendar!

Texas Gulf Summer Festivals in June

Mural Fest brings color and revitalization to Corpus Christi. (Visit Corpus Christi)

1. Mural Fest

Location: Downtown Corpus Christi

Dates: May 31 through Jun. 6

The fifth annual Mural Fest proves that art comes in all forms and can transform a city into a creative palette of revitalization. This festival features select artists from across Texas and beyond who bring the walls of downtown Corpus Christi to life. Wander the large-scale installations that reflect the city’s culture, history, and vibrant energy. 

2. Pride Houston 365

Location: Houston City Hall

Dates: Jun. 6

Join one of the largest Pride parades and festivals in the South at Pride Houston 365, where you can celebrate identity, visibility, and equality in the LGBTQ+ community. Immersive experiences combine with a vibrant, supportive spirit to create a fun event, made even more energetic by top performers and DJs playing across multiple stages. This event is also family-friendly. 

3. FIFA Fan Festival 

Location: EaDo, Houston

Dates: Jun. 11 through Jul. 19

Capture the excitement of the 2026 World Cup tournament as festivities spread through Eastern Downtown, or EaDo, the heart of Houston’s soccer district. The 39-day celebration known as FIFA Fan Festival provides venues for watching a match among an exuberant crowd, tasting global flavors from Houston’s diverse dining scene, and even kicking a ball around with your fellow “teammates” of friends and family. 

4. Juneteenth Celebration

Location: Baytown

Date: Jun. 13

Celebrate the end of slavery in the United States, when troops marched into Galveston and declared all people free. Baytown’s Juneteenth Celebration brings families together to commemorate this day with live concerts, games, activities, and plenty of festival food and drink. 

5. White Linen Night Art Fest

Location: League City

Date: Jun. 13

The Texas Gulf Coast gets steamy in the summer, so don your cooling white linen and come to White Linen Night Art Fest in League City. Art and history lovers flock to this event, where local vendors display their wares and historic League City gets its turn in the spotlight.

6. Juneteenth in Galveston

Location: Ashton Villa

Date: Jun. 19

As the birthplace of Juneteenth, Galveston hosts a series of cultural events, live music, and historical programming throughout the city for the entire month. But on Jun. 19, you can be part of the official observance, where a reading of General Order No. 3 commemorates the announcement of freedom for previously enslaved people in 1865. It’s an emotional reminder of our need to protect freedoms for all. 

7. Rockport Fulton Market Days

Location: Rockport

Dates: Jun. 19 through Jun. 21

Every third weekend of the month, Gulf Coast Texans make a pilgrimage of sorts to Rockport Fulton Market Days. The casual festival of food and fun takes place at the Rockport Harbor festival grounds and is free to the public. Expect over 100 vendors and a dozen food trucks. It’s dog-friendly, and shady spots are available for the perfect picnic spread.  

8. Otaku’s Summer Matsuri Food and Anime Festival

Location: Port Arthur

Dates: Jun. 27 and Jun. 28

Texas is surprisingly diverse, with cultures from all over the world. So it should come as no surprise that the Otaku’s Summer Matsuri Food and Anime Festival: Port Arthur is a much-anticipated yearly event. Port Arthur plays host to anime, food, and drink vendors; sumo wrestling; cosplay contests; live entertainment, and—of course— incredible Japanese food.

9. Que Padre Latin Dance Festival

Location: South Padre Island

Dates: Jun. 29

If you like to move, cha-cha yourself to South Padre Island’s Isla Grand Beach Resort for the ultimate three-day beach party, Que Padre Latin Dance Festival. Learn or improve your Latin dance moves in one or more workshops, watch live shows, or just party to a Latin beat in an unintimidating environment at pool, beach, and headphone parties that go well into the night.

10. Houston Caribbean Festival

Location: West Belfort Ave. area and around Houston

Dates: Jul. 1 through Jul. 5

Now in its 25th year, the Houston Caribbean Festival, also called Houston Carnival, is bigger and livelier than ever. The flavors of the Caribbean are yours for indulging, whether you’re dancing calypso-style or noshing on jerk chicken. Don’t miss the craft market, where you can take a handmade treasure from the islands home with you. 

11. League City July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza

Location: League City

Date: Jul. 3

Granted, you can find fireworks celebrations all over the Texas Gulf Coast, but for those who want more, the League City July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza is a great place to start. The party takes place on Jul. 3, so you can get a jumpstart on the fireworks and family fun. Inflatables for the kids and food trucks for everyone will keep you entertained until the sky lights up at dusk. 

12. Old Smokey Throwdown

Location: Galveston

Date: Jul. 11

Albatross Bar draws hungry crowds to its annual Old Smokey Throwdown, a cooking competition that is much better live than anything you’ll see on TV. Contestants must barbecue over an Old Smokey pit, and as a member of the public, you get to judge the outcome. Chicken wings, beef fajitas, and anything made with bacon compose the three categories. It’s a food festival for barbecue lovers, and you decide who takes home the prize. 

13. The Great Texas Mosquito Festival

Location: Clute

Dates: Jul. 23 through Jul. 25

One of the negatives of living in the Texas Gulf Coast? Skeeters, for sure. So you’ve got to love a city that turns a pest into a party. The Great Texas Mosquito Festival does it the southern way—with cornhole and horseshoe tournaments, carnival rides, and a barbecue cookoff. Bug spray not included.

14. Houston Shakespeare Festival

Location: Miller Outdoor Theatre, Houston

Dates: Aug. 1, 3, 5, 7

Every year, the University of Houston, in cooperation with Miller Outdoor Theatre, hosts two plays that showcase The Bard’s wit and talent. This year, the Houston Shakespeare Festival brings “The Tempest” and “Comedy of Errors” to the iconic outdoor stage. Set up your lawn chairs and settle in for a night of Shakespeare under the stars. 

15. Houston International Jazz Festival

Location: Across Downtown Houston

Dates: August (dates TBD)

While they haven’t announced specific dates yet, it’s a given that the Houston International Jazz Festival will return to H-Town to celebrate its 30th year of festivities, appropriately held during August Jazz Month. At various venues around Houston, usually including House of Blues and Discovery Green, musicians from around the world envelop festival goers in the history and culture of jazz.
