In 2026, Houston is going big with 4th of July festivals, concerts, and fireworks honoring the freedom and independence this country has enjoyed for 250 years.
When the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, it signified the start of something great—a country that stood for individual freedoms and the opportunity to stake your claim to a slice of the American Dream.
Over the next 250 years, the United States became the most powerful country in the world, and despite a political climate that has fostered division, America continues to hold the distinction of 50 states all united under one flag.
Sure, Texans threaten to secede more than just about anyone, but that’s just our firm convictions and deep-seated love of country that cause us to set the bar high. You’ll see H-Town patriotism on the 4th of July, with festivities spanning Houston’s 88 neighborhoods and ranging from moving presentations to explosive fireworks.
Here’s where you can find all the 4th of July action in the Houston metro and beyond.
Freedom Over Texas, Downtown
The City of Houston’s flagship festival for, well, flag-waving is Freedom Over Texas, a giant party that takes over Eleanor Tinsley Park along the Buffalo Bayou.
You and 35,000 of your closest friends will enjoy entertainment on multiple stages. This year’s lineup starts with Los Lonely Boys before Collective Soul gets the crowd to their feet in time for the headliner, Keith Urban.
The whole family will love the Dr. Pepper Flavor Zone, a designated area featuring live entertainment and interactive experiences. And don’t miss the especially poignant Liberty Park, where all branches of the armed forces get special recognition. Then choose your spot on the lawn (the best location is overlooking Buffalo Bayou) and ooh and aah over the ultra-impressive fireworks finale.
The celebration begins an hour earlier than usual this year at 3 p.m. In addition to the main stage entertainment, you’ll enjoy local artists bringing down the house on the Texas Stage. Tickets cost $15 online or at the gate (but children 12 and under are free!).

Celebration of Freedom, Pearland
Light up America’s 250th anniversary beginning at 6 p.m. at the Celebration of Freedom at Independence Park in Pearland. There is something for everyone at this family-friendly event, including giveaways, face painting, a craft market, inflatables and games, strolling entertainment, and food trucks.
Cheer on musical guests at the HEB Entertainment Stage and preserve your memories in the digital photobooth. Don’t miss the presentation of colors, a reminder of why we celebrate this day. Fireworks begin promptly at dark, so claim your viewing station early!
Red, Hot & Blue Festival, The Woodlands
On the other end of town, up north in The Woodlands, you’ll want to set up your blankets and lawn chairs early for the Red, Hot & Blue Festival, conveniently celebrated at various locations around town.
Fourth of July starts early in this neck of the woods, with 8 a.m. pre-parade entertainment, followed at 9 a.m. by floats, fire engines, military units, and marching bands making their way through Woodlands Town Center and Market Street. At night, choose from five fireworks locations: Town Green Park, Northshore Park, Waterway Square, Rob Fleming Park, and Hughes Landing.
Wherever you are in The Woodlands, you’re guaranteed to see epic views of the night’s pyrotechnics, but for the brand-new America 250 drone show, head to Northshore Park.
Red, White and Boom, Sugar Land
Everything’s sweet in Sugar Land, including the multiple festivities that mark summertime in this south Houston community. This year, Sugar Land enjoys its status as a host sponsor of the FIFA World Cup, but all that goes on pause to ensure a fabulous 4th of July.
Sugar Land’s Red, White and Boom is one of its signature events, lighting up Constellation Field, home of the Space Cowboys. From 6 to 10 p.m., the diamond is filled with inflatables for active play and face painting booths for a bit of patriotic creativity, and over at the batting cages, you can swing for the stars at Moonshot Alley.
The playground and splash pad are open all day, and when the sun sets, fireworks and live music make for the perfect ending to the day.

Kemah Boardwalk 4th of July Celebration, Kemah
Let freedom ring—Kemah style! That’s the motto of this year’s parade launching from City Park at 11 a.m. It’s the start of the Kemah Boardwalk 4th of July Celebration, held right on Galveston Bay.
Kemah’s attractions will keep you laughing all day. It starts with an Uncle Sam Stilt Walker, balloon artists, crafts, and even a robot. The big kids can brave the Bullet rollercoaster with a 92-foot drop, while the smaller kiddos can giggle their way through the day on the C.P. Huntington train or fly high on the Century Ferris Wheel.
Check out the multi-story tubular aquarium with the best under-the-sea views at the Aquarium Restaurant, then get ready for the 9:30 p.m. fireworks, especially beautiful as they reflect off Galveston Bay.
July 4th Celebration and Street Fest, Tomball
Tomball is a wonderful blend of small-town charm and big-city celebration. The July 4th Celebration and Street Fest is the perfect example—it’s a slice of Americana filled with traditional activities.
Enjoy cool (literally!) water inflatables for a break from the heat, craft vendors creating personalized items, and festival food for every taste, with all activities starting at 6:00 p.m.
Take in a special screening of “National Treasure” at 6:30 p.m., followed by a recognition of veterans and active military members with an armed forces medley tribute and sing-along that makes you grateful to be an American. After live music by Willow Creek Junction, the fireworks light up at 9:15 p.m.

4th of July Celebration, Baytown
Baytown Parks and Rec says it best: “The 250th anniversary is a moment to reflect on America’s history, honor the sacrifices that shaped the country, and celebrate the enduring principles of freedom, democracy, and opportunity.”
In 2026, Bicentennial Park comes alive in one of this city’s most highly attended events, Baytown’s 4th of July Celebration. Historical reenactment groups will celebrate the semi-quincentennial by wearing the uniforms of the time, firing canons and rifles, and reminding everyone how this country fought for its freedom.
Cheer for the winners of the Apple Pie Baking Contest and join the America Mile Challenge, where you can compete to complete as many miles as possible within a two-hour timeframe. Then rest your weary bones listening to DJ Boris, opening act Selestial Alcoser, and headliners Eli Young Band.
If you still haven’t seen enough stars, the night culminates in a spectacular fireworks display.
Fireworks Extravaganza, League City
The first thing you need to know about these fireworks is that they take place on July 3, not July 4. That means that it’s possible to attend fireworks events two nights in a row, for double the fun.
The Fireworks Extravaganza takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is a family-friendly affair—no alcohol or personal fireworks are allowed. Everyone will enjoy a safe holiday filled with tons of inflatables to exhaust the kids, food trucks for every palate, and live music, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m.
For easy entering and exiting of the Chester L. Davis Sportplex, take the shuttle from the parking lot at Hometown Heroes Park.
No matter where you choose to celebrate this 4th of July, Houston’s love of country will be on display, and for America’s 250th birthday, the parties will be bigger than ever. So light your sparklers and join your community for a proper Independence Day celebration.
