Angela Henson’s Little Bit Bakery has taken off since Sep. 2025. The Frisco resident was recently highlighted on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’

For one Frisco resident, baking became more than a hobby after she realized she could provide for her community by channeling her passion into something bigger than herself. Angela Henson originally developed the idea for Little Bit Bakery in 2020, when everyone was at home due to the pandemic, but her dreams of being a baker began in earnest when she was a teenager. “I started in high school and now that I am 20, it has become like my full time job,” Henson told NBC DFW. She started with a $25 baking set she purchased online and a handful of recipes. Over time, as she produced more baked goods for her family and friends, she started wondering how she could turn this personal endeavor into a professional venture.

In September 2025, she happened to see another local baker who was selling items through a bread pickup station. That same month, the Texas Cottage Food Law allowed residents to make and sell homemade baked goods and food to customers without inspections, licenses, or permits. The caveat there being that cooks and bakers need to abide by specific laws pertaining to storage, labeling, and sales rules that require them to sell their items directly to consumers. Henson knew this was something she could do with ease, and she’s been raking in the dough (pun intended) ever since.

“Once my dad and I made the popup shop for in front of the house, it really took off. On a good week, I might bring in $2700 net for the week. I even had to slow down a little bit, because I just couldn’t keep up with the orders,” she said. Henson, who’s a native of Burleson, had even more reason to celebrate her success recently: Kelly Clarkson highlighted Little Bit Bakery on an episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” which aired on March 13. The two video chatted about Henson’s success, and the 20-year-old told the “American Idol” alum all about how she operates her business through the honor system. “I open it on Saturdays and it’s funny because I’ll look out my window before I set up and people are lined up on my sidewalk, which is crazy so I usually label the baked goods with the price and I have my payment options out there and so I trust them to kind of add up their totals and pay with whatever option is best for them.”

Henson said that in doing so, she’s fostered a sense of genuine trust between herself and her community. And, she added, “It’s honestly worked out better than I thought because I usually earn more than I’m supposed to since I count my inventory.”

Henson wants her business to remain community-oriented

Angela Henson told Kelly Clarkson that running her own pop-up bakery “has completely changed my life in the biggest way possible. It’s definitely an answered prayer, just seeing how it’s gained so much support from the community around me.” While Henson loves, and is grateful for, pretty much every aspect of what she’s doing, she said that helping her neighbors grow closer to one another has ultimately been the best part of the experience. “I think one of my most favorite things is getting to meet people. I’ve met my neighbors. I have met people who drive 15 to 20 minutes to get here. People get to just stand there and meet each other. People that they otherwise never would have met,” she said.

It’s because of this that she wants to keep Little Bit Bakery right where it is. Henson said, “I think I want to keep that experience of just having it at the home and just being able to make community connections through that and make it an experience to come to a cart that is on the front porch, which you don’t see very often.” She’s hopeful that more people will come out to try her full menu of pastries, breads, and assorted baked goods—like chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, cake slices, and sourdough bagels—and form valuable connections while doing so.

She schedules her pop-ups for the weekends and operates until she sells out of everything. Preorders can be made in advance if you want to ensure you can grab something specific in lieu of walking up to see what she still has available.
