While there are several websites where you can find offers from more national chains, these places in and around Des Moines offer great senior discounts as well.

1. D.A.V. Thrift Store
Every Monday at D.A.V. Thrift Store, seniors can take 20% off their purchase. That’s a great deal on top of a great deal when you are shopping at thrift store prices. All proceeds from D.A.V. Thrift Stores support disabled veterans in the Des Moines area. Shoppers can find electronics, books, clothing and accessories, toys, seasonal items, and much more.
2. Fleur Cinéma & Café
If you love movies, head to Fleur Cinema & Café. While many movie theaters offer a senior discount for certain days or movie screening times, at Fleur Cinema & Cafe, seniors can get a $7 ticket any time for any show. Plus, there’s a full coffee bar, draft beer, wine, Italian sodas, a variety of dessert bars, and popcorn, of course! Fleur Cinema has been named Des Moines’s “Best Overall Theater and Best Concessions” by The Des Moines Register and is known for showing Hollywood blockbusters and indie films.
3. Greater Des Moines Botanical Center
For a tropical getaway in the middle of the city, make plans to visit the Greater Des Moines Botanical Center. Here, seniors 65+ can save $1 off the general admission price, and AARP members can take advantage of buy one, get one free tickets. 11. DART
Seniors looking to take public transportation in the Des Moines area are in luck as well. DART—or the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority—offers a discount for riders ages 65 and older. DART’s Ride to Thrive program offers rides at half price. Riders can sign up for the program, are provided a special rider ID card, and are eligible for two years.
