Grown-up getaways: 5 adults-only resorts in Las Vegas
Children and Las Vegas are like oil and water. They don’t mix.
Sure, this shimmering mecca of vices catered to families in the ‘90s, and little devils can still enjoy some of the city’s more innocent, kid-friendly attractions. But Las Vegas, at its core, was built for adults. That’s why it’s called Sin City.
If you’re an adult seeking a getaway free from crying babies and various other whippersnappers, read on. Las Vegas is home to a variety of resorts for grown-ups.
From a hangout for super fans to a pothead paradise, there’s no interaction with minors when you stay at these 5 adult-only resorts in Las Vegas.
Best overall adult playground
Circa Resort & Casino embodies the glamorous and glitzy vibe of classic Sin City with two stories of gaming, chef-driven cuisine, the world’s largest sportsbook, chic rooms, and a year-round pool. The AAA Four Diamond resort is a sparkling addition to the downtown Las Vegas skyline, standing in a prime spot on Fremont Street, once occupied by the Las Vegas Club, Mermaids Casino, and Glitter Gulch strip club.
Rooms and suites at Circa range from plush to super swanky, with modern amenities and a classy design. They all come with king-sized beds and refrigerators, while smart in-room tech ensures a seamless guest experience.
Dining includes a throwback Vegas steakhouse, Barry’s Downtown Prime, and the world-famous Saginaw’s Delicatessen, as well as others. And how about after-dinner cocktails with panoramic Vegas views at a rooftop lounge named for the city’s founding fathers? If you’re feeling extra nostalgic, you can even build your own Old Fashioned.
And don’t forget to make a splash at one of six heated pools on three levels any time of year at Stadium Swim. The rooftop pool amphitheater is ideal for sunseekers but sports lovers are the real winners, thanks to a 143-foot diagonal, 14-million-megapixel LED screen that broadcasts all the biggest games.
Best blast from the past
Located on the corner of 6th and Fremont Streets in the Fremont East Entertainment District of downtown Las Vegas, El Cortez Hotel and Casino is the longest continuously running hotel and casino in the city (opening in 1941) and the only existing casino on the National Register of Historic Places.
But don’t worry. While the vintage property’s facade remains mostly unchanged, the inside has been upgraded and renovated; most recently with a complete remodel for the property’s original 47 rooms. There are also newer room types and a storied penthouse suite on-site along with 64 chic Cabana Suites, which are located across the street in a boutique-style building.
In addition to a cocktail lounge and a craft brewery, dining at El Cortez includes the Japanese fare of Sushi Ichiban and old-school charm at Siegel’s 1941. There’s also a speakeasy barbershop, a spa, a salon, and plenty to eat and do nearby.
El Cortez played a vital role in the growth of Las Vegas, and the casino celebrates this with a History Hallway, curated by the nearby Mob Museum. It also happens to be one of the only casino floors in town to include coin-operated machines. Cha-ching!
Best for earning Strip street cred
The Cromwell emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic all grown up, reopening in 2020 as a 21+ resort. In other words, no kids are allowed at this Parisian-inspired boutique hotel and casino. Doggos, on the other hand, are invited to stay. They even get a pet-friendly welcome package.
Located at the busy Las Vegas Strip intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, The Cromwell offers gaming action in a venerable 40,000-square-foot casino and sportsbook. Rooms and suites are sophisticated with hardwood floors and other plush design touches. For dining, enjoy award-winning Italian cuisine and Las Vegas Strip views at Giada, the namesake restaurant of celebrity chef and television personality Giada De Laurentiis.
The Cromwell brims with day life and nightlife at Drai’s beach club and After Hours nightclub, located 11 stories above the Las Vegas Strip. But you can relax and let loose on multiple levels, from the elegant lobby bar Bound to the 65,000 square-foot palm-tree-lined rooftop pool.
Best for guests with discerning taste
Four-time James Beard Award-winning celebrity chef Todd English is renowned for his many successful restaurant concepts around the U.S. and in Las Vegas. Now he’s thrown his chef hat into the hotelier ring, opening the swanky The English Hotel in the heart of the downtown Las Vegas Arts District.
Non-gaming and pet-friendly, this adults-only boutique hotel is anchored by The Pepper Club, an Asian fusion restaurant named after Chef English’s dog. Everything on the menu is world-class yet locally sourced, as is the craft beer, created by local brewery Beer District Brewing.
Along with a patio, an outdoor pool, and a lounge on-site, the hotel is surrounded by trendy local cafes, bars, shops, and art studios. It’s also within walking distance of the Fremont Street Experience. Rooms and suites are right out of an influencer’s social media feed, some with a mirrored shower, and all with original artwork, coffeemakers, minifridges, and cocktail carts.
Added bonus, there’s no sneaky resort fee.
Best for smokers and midnight tokers
The Lexi is a non-gaming, adults-only hotel with a dank designation as the first cannabis-friendly hotel in Las Vegas. This added perk is currently limited to fourth-floor rooms with “cutting-edge air filtration technology.” No more sneaking around and blowing smoke into the toilet of a steamy bathroom, or rolling up a towel beneath your hotel room door.
Located on West Sahara, just off Interstate 15, The Lexi (formerly the Artisan) is a haven for guilty pleasures. The Lexi Bar serves creative craft cocktails and scrumptious, sharable bites to satisfy any cravings (a.k.a. the munchies). The pool is European-style; In other words, it’s topless-optional.
If you need some me-time, head to the spa for a rejuvenating massage. There’s always a party waiting when you’re ready to hang out with your buds.
