When rainy weather gets you down, check out these eight cool indoor play places for kids in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Children are endless bundles of energy, and even crummy weather doesn’t change that. If it’s raining, my kids will bounce off the walls—and drive me crazy.

I understand that kids need to move their bodies, but when they do gymnastics on the couch and tackle each other with blankets, I start to lose my patience. Sometimes the only way to save your sanity (and your furniture) is to take your kids to an indoor play place full of fun.

With three energetic kids, ages 4, 7, and 8, finding somewhere that isn’t home to let them run wild is critical—for both their mental health and mine! And while libraries, restaurants, and even Grandma’s house are great choices, they don’t provide the structure, equipment, or environment for truly letting loose and going wild. That’s why my family loves these indoor play places in Dallas-Fort Worth. Save these for a rainy day; you’ll need it.

1. Kids Empire

Addresses: 550 Town Center Boulevard, Garland; 6859 Arapaho Road, Dallas; 930 Wynnewood Drive, Dallas

Hours: Open daily

Kids Empire is one of my kids’ favorite places to hang out. With plenty of different climbing structures, obstacles, slides, and play areas, there is so much to do. Plus, there is a dedicated toddler area, so your littlest ones can have fun too.

3. Play Street Museum

Address: Various locations in Dallas-Fort Worth

Hours: Open Monday-Friday

Price: $15 per child ages 1 to 8; two adults per child are free

Play Street Museum opens a world of possibilities for younger kids, who can pretend to be farmers, dentists, and grocery workers, among other things, in this fun children’s museum. Plus, with extra add-ons (like slime lab, a bug activity kit, canvas painting, and more), your kids will have endless fun.

My three little ones love the huge building blocks and other cool toys at our local store that we don’t have at home, and I love that there are plenty of seating options for adults to relax while kids wander.

4. Peppa Pig World of Play

Address: 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, Grapevine

Hours: Open daily

Price: Starting at $18 for kids ages 1 to 8; $9 for kids and adults ages 9 and up

If your kids are “Peppa Pig” fans like mine are, then they will have an “oink-tastic” time at the Peppa Pig World of Play at Grapevine Mills. In addition to meeting Peppa herself, your kids can also jump in pretend muddy puddles (much less messy than the real ones outside!), visit Peppa Pig’s house, ride on Grandpa Pig’s train, and climb inside Peppa’s treehouse.

There is so much to do here as they recreate their favorite episodes and pretend they are part of Peppa’s family. Afterward, be sure to stop by the gift shop for souvenirs for your little fans.
