The City of Durham is set to celebrate women’s achievements and foster community dialogue at its upcoming 22nd Annual Women’s Forum. The event, themed “Moving Forward Together—Women Educating and Inspiring Generations,” brings together distinguished local leaders to share insights on education, personal growth, and creating balance in today’s world.

Annual forum celebrates women’s contributions to Durham

The City of Durham’s Neighborhood Improvement Services Department Human Relations Division, in partnership with ISLA NC, will host this free public event on Thursday, March 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers.

Beverly Thompson, director of the City’s Communications Department, will moderate the forum, which features an impressive panel of local leaders, including Durham County Board of Commissioners Chair Nida Allam and construction executive Shanika Baughman from Gilbane.

Event highlights and accessibility

The evening begins with a networking opportunity from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the City Hall lobby, where attendees can connect with city staff and community leaders while enjoying light refreshments. The main forum follows from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

To ensure accessibility, Spanish interpretation will be available for in-person attendees. Free parking vouchers will be provided for the Chapel Hill Street Garage at 326 E. Chapel Hill St., located across from City Hall.
