We scoured reviews and ratings on Google to find the markets with the best product variety and prices, and friendly customer service was a plus, too. These markets bring tastes of home to folks with Mexican heritage, but you don’t have to be Mexican to shop in them. On the contrary, supporting immigrant-owned businesses is one of the best ways to uplift marginalized voices regardless of the political landscape, though it’s particularly important right now.

1. La Loma Supermercado

Since La Loma Supermercado opened, Battle Creek hasn’t been the same. When it comes to prepared foods, there’s no going wrong. “Came here the 2nd time in 3 days and the food really is top tier here,” one reviewer said. Meanwhile, one visitor comes for the dessert—and the rest of us should take notes. They noted that the in-house tres leches cake is “fresh and delicious.” Sounds dreamy to us!

Non-Mexican folks who live in Holland also love Supermercado La Reina. “A great place to buy the best Mexican food. The Barbacoa and cooked rice are awesome. We are Dutch but enjoy Mexican food and appreciate it that we can buy real authentic delicious Mexican food,” one reviewer shared, adding that they love how personable the staff is.

“Large variety of items and friendly employees. They have the best tacos I’ve ever had,” one reviewer noted. Tacos aren’t the only good menu item here, though. “I bought the pork tamales and reheated them at home since I was not going to eat them right away. So delicious,” another shared. Yum!

Produce, meat, snacks, spices, and more are all housed here, so you can gather everything you need for the week in one fell swoop. Oh, and Supermercado Guanajuato sells house-made beef jerky, so what’s not to love?
“AUTHENTIC ALERT,” one reviewer began their rave review on Google, where the store has a 4.6-star rating. “If you want the real flavors of Latino food, this is your one stop to make. … Everything was fresh!!!!” This customer and many others added that the store’s employees are always kind and pleasant, and the prices are fair to boot.

E & L Supermercado has more reviews than most Mexican markets in Michigan, coming in at more than 3,500 and counting. Altogether, it’s landed a cumulative 4.6-star Google rating, cementing it firmly in the top tier of Mexican shops in the state. The store’s website makes the reason clear as day, too. E & L Supermercado simply seems to have more options than most other markets, including kitchenware for those last-minute needs.
The store’s reviews show how lovely this market is, too. “This is my favorite place to shop. They have the best homemade tamales and their prices are great and I love the rewards that you get for shopping there,” one reviewer wrote. One standout in the grocery section, according to reviews?
