Virginia water parks: 2026 opening dates, prices, & what to expect

Beat the heat at one of Virginia’s many water parks during the summer of 2026.

Beat the heat this summer and have some fun by visiting one of Virginia’s many water parks. Whether you’re looking for a simple neighborhood water park experience like Splash Valley in Roanoke County or a more high-octane time at Water Country USA in Williamsburg, there’s a water park that’s sure to pique your interest.

Here’s your guide to water park season in 2026, including opening dates and prices. 

Northern Virginia

Cameron Run Regional Park

Location: 401 Eisenhower Ave., Alexandria, VA 22304

Visit Great Waves Waterpark within the 26-acre Cameron Run Regional Park for some splashing and sliding. The park’s main attraction is the large wave pool where visitors can ride the waves that resemble the ocean.

The park features seven slides, including speed ones where you climb dizzying staircases before sliding into the pool below at full speed. There are also twist and curl slides, some covered and others uncovered, where you snake your way through the slide before being dumped into the pool. 

Children may like the Kids Zone, where splash pads can be found. 

The waterpark is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Tickets are $17.50 for locals who are 48 inches or taller on Mondays through Thursdays. Locals under 48 inches pay $14. Tickets go up $2 Friday through Sunday. Nonlocals should add an extra $1 to the listed ticket price. 

Central Virginia

Massanutten Resort WaterPark

Location: 1200 Adventure Dr., Massanutten, VA 22840

Massanutten Resort WaterPark offers both an indoor and outdoor water park. 

The indoor water park, which is always heated to 84 degrees, features a water fortress, inflatable adventures, body slides, pools, lazy river floats, a wave pool, and hot tubs. 

Better suited for summer fun, the outdoor water park is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It offers a range of activities, including water slides and a wave pool. Try the 296-foot Rockingham Racer, a mat racer, with your friends to see who can get to the pool below the fastest. 

Standard rates for advance tickets are $34 for those under 42 inches or $45 for those 42 inches and taller on weekdays. Weekend rates go up to $48 for those under 42 inches and $63 for those 42 inches and taller on weekends. 

Kings Dominion & Soak City

Location: 16000 Theme Park Way, Doswell, VA 23047

Soak City, part of Kings Dominion, is a 20-acre water park that boasts more than 24 water slides, splash pads, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a 45-foot multi-level play structure. 

A standout attraction is Hurricane Heights, a 65-foot-tall slide. It has a five-out-of-five thrill level score.

Single-day tickets start at $45.

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions

Location: 5500 Destination Dr., Woodford, VA 22580

Keep an eye out for Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, which is set to open in commonwealth this fall. It will be an African-inspired, year-round water park resort.

It promises to house Virginia’s largest indoor water park, spanning 175,000 square feet. Among the many attractions, visitors can expect more than 40 slides, a swim-up bar, a surf simulator, and 10 acres of seasonal outdoor pools.

Cobblestones Park

Location: 13131 Overhill Lake Ln., Glen Allen, VA 23059

The locally owned Cobblestones Park is home to one of the largest concrete swimming pools in the commonwealth. The park has staying power, having been around since the 1950s.

The park features two large concrete swimming pools, including a pool for small children and the main pool. It also has multiple slides, including the Crazy River Slide, Speed Slide, and Corkscrew Slide. Slides can also be found at the pools.

It’s open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend this year. Visit it any day of the week from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. except Mondays. 

Season passes are $85 per person. 

Pocahontas State Park

Location: 10301 State Park Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23823

Although a state park might not be the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of a water park, Pocahontas State Park is worth a look. In addition to its 90 miles of trails, it has an Aquatic Center that offers fun for the whole family.

The center has a toddler pool, a fountain wet deck, 3-foot and 5-foot-deep leisure pools, and two tubular water slides. After having fun at the center, go for a dip in the 225-acre Swift Creek Lake.

There is a $9 swimming fee for those 3-12 and a $10 fee for those 13 and older. 

Hampton Roads

Ocean Breeze Waterpark

Location: 849 General Booth Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Ocean Breeze Waterpark has everything from rides and water slides to water playgrounds and a wave pool. The Adventure River is a good place to relax after spending time in the wave pool. The steady current takes tubers through Hideaway Cove, where they’ll get soaked by waterfalls and tipping buckets. 

Weekday tickets are $38.99 for those 3-9 and $48.99 for those 10 and up. Weekend tickets are $44.99 for those 3-9 and $56.99 for those 10 and up.

Portsmouth Splash Park

Location: 900 Elm Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23704

Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Tuesdays through Sundays from 1-7 p.m., the Portsmouth Splash Park is an interactive aquatic destination that offers fun for the whole family. 

It offers 12 varieties of ground nozzles that spray water out of the rain decks of the splash pads. 

Best of all, the park is free to visit. It’s operated by the City of Portsmouth Parks and Recreation. 

Water Country USA

Location: 176 Water Country Pkwy, Williamsburg, VA 23185

Water Country USA, associated with Busch Gardens, is Virginia’s largest water park. 

It offers rides ranging from wild to mild. Some of the rides include Nitro Racer: Supercharged, a six-lane 320-foot bodysurfing slide, and Malibu Pipeline, a tub ride that stretches for 450 feet and drops by 55 feet and eventually empties into a 3-foot-deep splash pool.

Single-day tickets start at $51.99.

Southwest Virginia 

Splash Valley

Location: 7415 Wood Haven Rd., Roanoke, VA 24019

Splash Valley is an outdoor aquatic park that the Roanoke County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism runs. The park is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The park features two 34-foot slides, a current river, and a water playground for children.

Daily admissions rates for Roanoke County residents are $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. Non-residents pay $2 extra. Those who visit the park regularly may find it cheaper to purchase season passes, which are $99 for the public. The park says the pass will pay for itself in about 10 visits. As a bonus, season pass holders get 10% off concession purchases.

Evelyn Alexander Water Park

Location: 5100 Alexander Rd., Dublin, VA 24084 

The Evelyn Alexander Water Park is part of Pulaski County’s Randolph Park. 

It features an eight-lane lap pool, a 38-foot-long water slide, a shaded swimming area, water basketball, spray toys and water drops, and a frog and boat slide for children.

Entrance fees are reasonable—only $3 for children under 2 and $5 for those 2 and over. Keep in mind that the pool is only open on days when the temperature is at least 71 degrees.
