Where to get flights of ice cream, pie, pickles, & more in DFW

When you can’t decide on an option or simply want to sample multiple items all at once, look no further than these creative food and drink flights in DFW.

An airplane flight is a terrific way to experience the sights and sounds of another place, perhaps with a few new experiences thrown in. A flight from a restaurant or bar takes a similar approach, providing smaller samples of the establishment’s finest offerings.

Many breweries and vineyards have beer and wine flights on their menus. We are certainly not disparaging those, but much like taking a flight to a place you’ve never been, we’re all about broadening horizons here.

We’ve put together nine spots across Dallas-Fort Worth with unique flights worth indulging in, from pies to coffee to eggnog. One final word of advice: Bring your appetite.

Pick out a pie flight at Pifealootin

2441 Goldfinch Ln., Garland, Texas 75042

Garland’s Piefalootin offers more than 60 pies to choose from. Perhaps you dream of ordering a ton of pie and then triumphantly finishing it, like in that scene from “Matilda.” Of course, ordering full versions of every pie on this menu is not only far too much pie for one person (or family, or perhaps even an entire town), but it would also run you $3,000.

The good news is that Piefalootin has pie flights, which is a perfect compromise. You get three slices of delectable pie for only $18. And some of these pies are so fun to say, like the White Chocolate EuphOREO, You’ve Gotta Be Kit’n Me, and Ah, Man, JOY!

Indulge in an ice cream flight at Morgan’s

321 S Main St, Fort Worth, TX 76104

102 NW Renfro, Burleson, TX 76028

When I eat ice cream at home, I often mix and match multiple flavors. Yet, I sometimes feel embarrassed doing the same thing when I’m out and about.

Thankfully, places like Morgan’s encourage you to embrace your indecisiveness or eagerness to try several tasty flavors all at once. Options like the Wookies Cookies, Honey, Not So Vanilla, and Strawberry Magic will have you dreaming up flight combinations in no time. Just don’t ask for sorbet—this is an ice cream-only shop.

Get serious about cereal at The Spelled Milk

712 West Davis Street, Dallas

Indulge your inner child at The Spelled Milk, where you can get a flight of your favorite childhood cereals. From Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles to Reece’s Puffs and Cap’n Crunch, there are so many options here.

Enjoy four cereals of your choice combined with ice cream and served with milk on the side. Because the only thing better than cereal in the morning is cereal with ice cream!

Get seasonal with caffeinated flights at Ascension

Multiple locations

Most of us need some caffeine to get going in the morning. Ascension offers an even greater boost with seasonal flights.

In the fall, you’ll get a pumpkin spice latte, mocha amaretto, and a nitro Earl Grey tea; the winter brings flavors like spiced cocoa, white chocolate peppermint, and holiday cookies.

Heading to Ascension at night? Try the espresso martini flight, featuring the classic levitate, plus blood orange and white chocolate varieties.

Divvy up your drinks at Civil Pour

8061 Walnut Hill Ln, Suite 924, Dallas, TX 75231

Civil Pour calls itself a coffee and beer ruckus, and its flights follow suit. Sure, you can order a flight of four beers and have a good time, but why not soar to new heights? Grab 4×4 offerings of just about any chilly beverage available, including cold brew, ginger beer, and kombucha.

The North Park spot also has some really cool wall art, and sipping on refreshing drinks is even better with impressive visuals in front of you.

Practice some whiskey business at Whiskey Cake

Multiple locations

Whiskey Cake has several locations across Texas that all share one trait: an extensive collection of spirits. Of course, whiskey gets top billing (it’s in the name, after all). While you can certainly order a cocktail to sip, Whiskey Cake serves up flights of all varieties: bourbon, Irish, Texas, scotch, and rye whiskey. Or, if you’re feeling extra creative, choose a foursome of spirits from the whiskey library and marvel at your ability to pick out good whiskeys.

Despite the wordplay in this title, we’d recommend not dancing around in your underwear like Tom Cruise after enjoying your flight, no matter how badly you want to.

Pucker up for a pickle flight at The Sour Boule

3801 Southwest Boulevard, Fort Worth

You’ve heard of fried pickles, extra pickles, and pickle-flavored foods, but have you ever heard of a pickle flight?! The Sour Boule’s pickle flight was designed for the pickle lovers. Its seasoned spears come in oregano, spicy ranch, spicy, Tajin, ranch seasoned, Sour Boule-seasoned, peppered, and plain pickle. You can also order a side of ranch dressing or chipotle mayo to dip it in

Ask for apps at Mexican Bar Company

6121 West Park Boulevard Ste RS-10 Plano, TX 75093

Technically, these menu items are listed as a “tasting for 3,” but I won’t give away your secret if it’s just you dining solo. Go for the tradicional and seasonal guac + queso combo, or get crazy with a ceviche flight. An ample amount of chips is included in both cases.

Should you still have room after your meal, Mexican Bar Co. also has tequila flights, which will surely be the start of a great story.

Refuse to narrow down your desserts at The Peach Cobbler Factory

Locations in Arlington, Burleson, Dallas, Euless, Frisco, and Richardson

Nobody does peach cobbler like your grandma, but the next best thing can be found at The Peach Cobbler Factory. They have tons of fabulous cobblers, puddings, brownies, cookies, and other desserts. If you can’t choose, narrow it down to four with their dessert flight, which comes with any four cobblers or puddings.

Cobbler flavors include classics like peach and cherry, as well as more unique flavor combinations like strawberry peach and honey apple, all served warm over vanilla bean ice cream. Pudding options include everything from banana pudding to peanut butter and jelly, as well as candy flavors like Oreo and Butterfinger.

If you end up liking one of these more than Nana’s desserts, we won’t tell!

Sip on a sake flight at Hawker’s

Multiple locations

Hawker’s restaurants are across the nation, and Dallas is lucky enough to have a pair of locations that feature delectable Asian street food. Some of the drinks lean into being over the top, like the Capri-Fun Cooler and Tacky Tiki, which includes a rubber ducky wearing sunglasses.

We’re unsure if a saké flight counts as being over the top or simply a good idea. Either way, we’re glad it exists.

Chill with frozen margarita flights at Sky Blossom Bistro or Las Almas Rota

1514 Elm St #611, Dallas, TX 75201 (Sky Blossom Bistro), 3615 Parry Avenue, Dallas (Las Almas Rota)

Approximately 328 days of the year, Texas ranges from “hot” to “unbearably hot.” During every single one of those days, a frozen margarita is a great way to combat the heat. (It’s also a wonderful choice for the other 37 days.)

Sky Blossom has five great marg options: classic, blueberry, passion fruit, mango, and strawberry. Sampling them all as individual drinks could get out of control, making the frozen margarita flight the ideal order for any marg fan. Plus, you’re in the middle of downtown Dallas with gorgeous skyline views—what could be better?

At Las Almas Rotas, you can get three- or five-drink flights from many different spirits, from agave spirits to blanco tequilas. But if you want something cool and refreshing, you can’t go wrong with the frozen margarita flight. It includes Tequila Watermelon (with zesty lime and watermelon juice), Mezcal Mangonada (with Chamoy and Taijin), and Mezcal Moradanada (with frozen blueberry).

Get even more margarita flights at Blue Goose Cantina

Locations in Frisco, Plano, Highland Village, McKinney, Grapevine, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie

When a restaurant is known for its popular selection of delicious margaritas, like Blue Goose Cantina, it can be impossible to decide which one to order on a night out. Skip the indecisiveness and order one of their margarita flights instead!

Choose from a frozen margarita flight, which comes with their original Frozen, The Diablo (a mix of frozen margarita and red sangria), and Aye Papi Mango, with fresh mango blended in, or an on-the-rocks flight, with The Rock, Hibiscus Margarita, and Mango Margarita.

Feeling spontaneous? Treat yourself to a flight of their award-winning drinks, which comes with a Hibiscus Margarita, Peach Margarita, and Kiwi Cucumber Margarita.

Cheers with eggnog flights at Cannon’s Corner

Cannon’s Corner Irish Pub regularly offers flights on beer and whiskey, but last Christmas, they stepped up their game even more. The limited-time eggnog flights paired Teeling Irish Whiskey with creative flavors like gingerbread house, chocolate-covered orange, cookies and cream, and an “Irish heart warmer.” These were generous pours, too, which truly enhanced the holiday spirit.

Cannon’s hasn’t yet announced if these will be back this year, though we expect to see them return. ‘Tis the season for making dreams come true.

Delight in drink and dessert flights at Beehive

1514 Elm Street, Suite 130, Dallas

With Instagram-worthy aesthetics and over-the-top drinks, Beehive is a must-visit if you are looking for a flight and an experience.

Their dessert flights come in martini glasses and include a silky chocolate mousse, a matcha cheesecake, and a pavlova. A huge fluffy ball of cotton candy on top is the proverbial icing on the cake. It’s practically too pretty to eat!

Or, come in for brunch to try one of their amazing (and colorful!) margarita or mimosa flights.

Get a buzz from multiple martinis at The Finch

5307 East Mockingbird Lane, Suite 150, Dallas

2955 South State Highway 161, Grand Prairie

Cheers with a delicious martini at The Finch, a charming and bold restaurant with unique flavor combinations. Here, you can order a mini martini flight with three of these four flavors: Lemon Drop, classic martini, Pom-tini, and Appletini. You’ll wonder how you ever used to order just one martini before.

Try fun cold foam & matcha flavors at Elevated Coffee & Tea

1251 State Street, Suite 700, Richardson

Iced coffee was made for summertime, and nothing, well, elevates your afternoon cup of joe like some sweet cold foam. Elevated Coffee & Tea offers cold foam flights in flavors like crème brûlée, sea salt, cream cheese, pandan coconut, strawberry, and ube. Because you deserve it all!

If matcha is more your flavor, Elevated also offers flights of creamy, summer-y matcha flavors, including your choice of four: vanilla, strawberry, mango, blueberry, KitKat, and lavender. Invite a friend to share, or drink them all on your own.

Go crazy for coffee at Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters

819 Exposition Avenue, Dallas

Invite your friends for a coffee flight at Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters, which is designed to be shared with 3-6 people. The flights include three 12-ounce pours, plus a lesson on how the coffee was grown and processed, the farms it came from, and the different coffee varieties. Coffee aficionados will be in java heaven here!

Satisfy your sweet tooth at SusieCakes

6100 Luther Lane, Dallas

1621 River Run, Suite 151, Fort Worth

Have your cake and eat it too with one of these sweet flights at SusieCakes. Their cake flight includes seven slices of cake, including vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, marble, carrot, tropical, and lemon. With flavors this decadent, you’re sure to love every single one!

Susie Cakes also has cupcake flights, where you can get a box of mini cupcakes in red velvet, vanilla, chocolate, and flourless chocolate; regular cupcakes in four, eight, or twelve flavors, including chocolate vanilla, mocha, strawberry, lemon, peanut butter, coconut, and more; and a combo kit with four cupcakes and two cake slice flavors. Have a cake party (and please invite me!) or freeze the extra so you can treat yourself to something sweet all summer long.

Dig into pancakes at Snooze an A.M. Eatery

Locations in Addison, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, and Plano

Speaking of breakfast, another flight you didn’t know you needed is pancakes! This is one of my favorite morning meals, but sometimes I get stressed over a menu trying to decide between one decadent pancake flavor or another. At Snooze an A.M. Eatery, you can try three delicious flavors on one plate, officially making them a morning hero!

Their signature flight includes Pineapple Upside Down, Cinnamon Roll, and Strawberry Shortcake, but if you aren’t feeling that, you can also order whatever three pancake flavors you want to create your own flight. And don’t pressure yourself: anything you order will be your new favorite.
