Shopping for plus-sized clothing that fits well and looks good can be challenging, but it’s not impossible in Reno. Many of the big chains carry clothes for a range of shapes and sizes, and some specialize in designing clothes that fit real women’s bodies.
From chain stores to locally owned shops and consignment shops, here are some of the stores in the Biggest Little City that carry plus-sized clothing you’ll actually want to wear.
1. Torrid Outlet
1330 Scheels Drive, Space 156, Sparks
Torrid is a popular women’s clothing chain with a youthful and fashion-forward approach to plus-sized fashions. It originally opened on the West Coast in a Brea, California mall in 2001. Now, there are more than 650 stores spread across the U.S. and Canada.
Clothing comes in sizes 10-30 for all seasons and occasions, from summer swimwear to winter holiday dresses. One shopper wrote on Yelp that she found a 1950s-style reproduction dress in her classic vintage style that fits perfectly in the bust and hips. Customers at the Sparks outlet location are also impressed by the helpful staff and the deals in the clearance section.
2. CURV
5385 Meadowood Mall Circle, Space D128, Reno
A lingerie store for curvy women, CURV by Torrid takes a stylish and sexy approach to bras, panties, sleepwear, loungewear, and activewear. The lingerie section features a wide selection of bra and panty sets, bralettes, babydolls, and shapewear. Bras come in cup sizes B-H and band sizes 36-50 (some sizes are online exclusives), so you’re likely to find something that fits well, looks good, and feels great. Plus, the store has a bra fitting expert to help.
3. Maurice’s
5156 Meadowood Mall Circle, Reno
Carrying sizes from 12 to 24, Maurice’s is a clothing shop with modern casualwear, dressy outfits, business attire, and shoes for women of all shapes and sizes. Founded in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1931, the store is in shopping malls throughout the U.S. and Canada. A shopper at the Meadowood Mall location wrote on Yelp that she was impressed with the reasonable prices and the great selection.

13925 S. Virginia Street, Reno
J Jill is not a one-size-fits-all store, but with women’s clothing in misses, plus size, tall, and petite sizing, there are sizes in this store to fit all. Opening as a specialty store in the Berkshires of Massachusetts in 1959, then a direct catalog business, J. Jill opened its first retail store in 1999 and now has more than 200. At the Shayden Summit location in Reno, you’ll find clothing in sizes XS to 4X (regular, petite, and tall), shoes, jewelry, and accessories.
5. Bad Apple Vintage
1001 S. Virginia Street, Reno
Bad Apple Vintage is a trendy shop in midtown Reno that sells vintage, used, and new clothing, accessories, and locally made goods. It’s small but charming, with options for both men and women, especially ‘80s and ‘90s fashions. One shopper writes about Bad Apple Vintage on Yelp: “pleasantly surprised to find plus sizes for ladies.” Shoppers are also complimentary of the customer service.
6. Junkee Clothing Exchange
299 E Plumb Lane, 135A, Reno
Now located in the Reno Public Market near bars, restaurants, and other shops, Junkee Clothing Exchange is a used, vintage, and consignment shop with clothing for women and men, furniture, art, and antiques. The 15,000-square-foot store also sells Halloween costumes. Yelpers write that they have found plus-sized clothing here. They also like the variety of merchandise and shopping experience.
7. Lane Bryant Outlet
1420 Scheels Drive, 114, Sparks
Lane Bryant started out in 1904 making maternity designs before evolving into the plus-sized powerhouse it’s known as now, with around 450 stores in the U.S. Carrying women’s sizes 10 to 40 in underwear, outerwear, and everything in between. The women’s clothing and intimates here aren’t as cutting-edge as what one might find elsewhere, but there’s a good selection and plenty of new arrivals. Some shoppers complain on Yelp that some of the floral designs here make them look like a couch or a shower curtain. Others say they can always find a good pair of work pants here.
8. Home Means Nevada Co.
135 N. Sierra St. Suite C, Reno
Founded in 2005, Home Means Nevada Co. is a locally owned, Nevada-based store carrying T-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, hats, and other items like mugs, koozies, tumblers, tote bags, keychains, and more. Not only do the items all have adorable designs related to the Silver State, but many of them are also made in Nevada. While it isn’t a plus-size clothing store, Home Means Nevada Co. does carry women’s shirts and hoodies in XXL and men’s shirts and hoodies in XXXL.
9. Clothes Mentor
1509 S Virginia Street, Reno
A women’s resale store, Clothes Mentor carries women’s clothing in several styles in sizes 0-26, shoes, bags, and other accessories. Growing from a consignment shop for children in the 1980s to a resale store with handpicked fashion for women, Clothes Mentor buys and resells gently used name-brand and designer items at more than 130 stores nationwide. There are always great items to choose from since sellers are paid on the spot. Shoppers write on Yelp that they have found brands, including Ann Taylor, Nine West, BCBG, Coach, and Burberry, all for a reasonable price (up to 70 percent off, according to the store).
