You can now spend the night in a historic cabin at Stone State Park

Learn about the renovated cabin in Stone State Park that you can now rent, plus other activities to do around the area.

A new camping cabin is available for rent at Stone State Park in Sioux City, Iowa. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening happened on Tuesday, June 20.

The stone building, originally constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), was recently repurposed into a camping cabin that sleeps four, has heating and air conditioning, and a small kitchenette. The cabin is located in the campground near a modern restroom and shower building.

The remodeling effort was funded jointly by the Friends of Stone Park, Missouri River Historical Development, and the Iowa DNR. Although some of the specialized work was contracted, Friends of Stone Park volunteers stained the wood, painted, installed windows, doors, and flooring, and completed the exterior landscaping.

The new cabin became available to rent beginning on June 22 for two-night minimum stays. You can reserve the cabin by contacting the park ranger at 712-255-4698, although it will be available to rent online later this summer. The rental fee is $35 per night.
