Astro-adventures: Las Vegas activities for every zodiac sign
Learn about astrology and the best Las Vegas activities for each zodiac sign, according to a professional Astrologer.
If you’re looking to have a good time amid the bright lights of Las Vegas, you might want to look to the stars. Your zodiac sign might hold the key to the perfect Sin City activity for you.
Though astrology is considered a pseudoscience, it has a large and loyal following around the world, where its practice is unique and varied depending upon the culture. In the United States, up to 70 million people read their horoscopes every day, according to the American Federation of Astrologers. That number is expected to grow as Statistica forecasts that the market for astrology apps will explode in the next decade globally from $2 billion in 2021 to almost $20 billion in 2031.
What is astrology?
The origins of astrology date back to ancient Mesopotamia. It’s based on the belief that certain events can be predicted based on how they correlate to the zodiacal positions of the sun, moon, and planets.
Astrologically speaking, your fortune, future, personality, and preferences — like driving an ATV in the Nevada desert versus watching a show on a Vegas Stage — are influenced by these celestial bodies.
What is the zodiac?
Britannica defines the zodiac as “a belt around the sky extending nine degrees on either side of the ecliptic, the Sun’s apparent annual path, which contains 12 constellations or astrological signs.”
The 12 astrological signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Saggitarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, or Pisces) are based on a person’s date of birth. Each sign is said to belong to one of the four elements (air, fire, water, or earth), which govern the signs and influence you in tandem with your birth chart.
So even though a practical Capricorn (earth), intellectual Aquarius (air), intuitive Pisces (water), and energetic Aries (fire) may share certain similarities, they’ll also have quite a few differences.
Best Las Vegas activities based on your zodiac sign
Astrologer Ryan Marquardt, co-host of the Clairannoyance Podcast on Spotify and Apple and co-founder of the Bizmos astrology calendar, is intimately familiar with the nuances of all 12 zodiac signs. A former Las Vegas publicist, he is also very familiar with the best things to do in Las Vegas.
We recently had the opportunity to speak with Marquardt about his suggested Las Vegas activities for each zodiac sign.
ARIES
As the first and fastest sign of the zodiac, Aries will love the competitive and high-octane energy at BattleBots Destruct-A-Thon, a robot-combat show at Caesars Entertainment Studios. “It’s loud and brash, so you’ll feel right at home in this infectiously chaotic environment,” Marquardt told us. “You’re free to tap into your primitive spirit while watching your favorite bots smash and crash.”
TAURUS
No sign is as reliable as a Taurus, and no show is as reliable as the seductive cabaret Absinthe at Caesars Palace. “No matter how many times you might have seen it, Absinthe is a consistently excellent experience that always manages to offer something new,” said Marquardt. Since Taurus is also a sensual sign, “the sex appeal doesn’t hurt either.”
GEMINI
Geminis thrive on mental stimulation. Free craps lessons at Park MGM offer the perfect opportunity to learn something new and exciting. Marquardt is convinced that Geminis will quickly master the game thanks to their sharp wit and keen curiosity. “Armed with newfound skills and natural charm, you’ll turn the tables at the casino into the liveliest social event of the season,” he said. “You’ll walk out richer than you’ve ever been, all because of a free class.”
CANCER
Nostalgic Cancer will adore the Pinball Hall of Fame, 4925 S. Las Vegas Boulevard. This retro arcade is filled with antique machines and the memories of yesteryear. “It’s as fun as anything else in Vegas, but it also has an emotional appeal that warms your heart in all the right ways,” Marquardt said. “As you journey through decades of pinball history, you’ll naturally recall childhood memories that make you feel like you belong here.”
LEO
Leos love being the center of attention and letting their inner child out to play. The Play Playground at Luxor Hotel & Casino lets Leos shine, capture social media content, and unleash their joyful spirit. “Leo loves getting a group together, and this adult playground is the perfect place for you to spend time with your friends,” Marquardt told us. “The real world is out there somewhere, but all responsibilities that come with being an adult will fade away when you shine your light on the playground.”
VIRGO
Virgos can be plagued with anxiety without reliable routines. That’s why Dig This, 800 W. Roban Avenue, is such a great place to not only have fun but also calm down a bit. “It’s all about precision, repetition, and working with the earth — something an analytical earth sign like Virgo will love doing,” said Marquardt. “Yours is the most useful sign of the zodiac, so you’ll feel empowered operating a tractor and literally moving the earth around.”
LIBRA
Charming Libra will feel at ease in the Las Vegas Arts District, surrounded by the creative and inspiring atmosphere. This eclectic and beloved destination in Downtown Las Vegas has an appealing mixture of art galleries, boutique shops, trendy eateries, and bars. “This is the best way for you to indulge your refined sense of culture, work on your social skills, and feel uplifted by all things aesthetically pleasing,” said Marquardt.
SCORPIO
As the most mysterious sign of the zodiac, Scorpios are often drawn toward the darker and more taboo parts of life, including crime and horror. That’s why Marquardt suggests the SAW Escape Room, 2121 S. Industrial Road, Suite 101. “You’ll relish in the adrenaline rush of solving twisted puzzles and uncovering secrets in this immersive experience that lets you explore your inner detective — or your inner villain,” he said.
SAGITTARIUS
Nobody knows how to do off-the-beaten-path like a Sagittarius. “Get away from the tourist traps and you’ll be happy,” said Marquardt. He believes the adventurous nature of a Sagittarius will light up while riding horseback in the stunning landscape of Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. “Riding away from the lights and sounds of the Las Vegas Valley is nourishing for your free-roaming spirit,” he said.
CAPRICORN
Serious and ambitious (and often referred to as the CEO of the zodiac), Capricorns will be fascinated by the Mob Museum, 300 Stewart Avenue. “Here, you can delve into the legacy of power, control, and leadership that left such a massive imprint on Las Vegas,” said Marquardt. “Even the most peaceful of Capricorns can appreciate a bit of ruthlessness, so you’ll love tapping into your inner mob boss energy.”
AQUARIUS
As the cosmic weirdo of the zodiac, the Aquarius often feels like an alien, even among your closest friends. That’s why they’ll absolutely adore the quirky, oddball, futuristic vibe at AREA15, 3215 S. Rancho Drive. “This immersive entertainment space is the perfect attraction for your eccentric nature, offering interactive art, cutting-edge technology, and out-of-this-world experiences that are utterly indescribable to the common human,” said Marquardt.
PISCES
As the ultimate dreamer of the zodiac, Pisces will be enchanted by the Museum of Illusions, where nothing is as it seems. Located between The Cosmopolitan and The Shops at Crystals, this museum is a mystical, mind-bending space that will captivate the Pisces’ imagination and transport them into a world of wonder and fantasy. “Pisces can get in trouble for daydreaming too much,” said Marquardt, “but this is a place where the daydream comes alive, and the escapism is encouraged.”
